It’s tough to be a political party if no one votes for your candidates.

Actually the GOP has the same mindset in my state. They are basically non-existent in elected office here, partly because they run the same old fossils election after election.

Contrary to the opinions expressed here, the statement is one that the republican party operates as a republic not a democracy. If any candidate does not win a majority of the delegates the rules allow delegates to move until a majority of them favor one candidate.
