Trump: There will be riots if I’m denied nomination
NY POST ^ | March 16, 2016 | Yaron Steinbuch

Posted on 03/16/2016 6:38:02 AM PDT by COUNTrecount

Donald Trump warned Wednesday that “riots” would break out if the GOP tries to deny him the Republican Party’s nomination.

“I think we’ll win before getting to the convention. And if we’re 20 votes short or if we’re 100 short and we’re at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400 … I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically,” he told CNN.

“I think you’d have riots,” he added. “I’m representing … many, many millions of people, in many cases first-time voters.

“I wouldn’t lead it, but I think bad things would happen,” the tycoon noted.

“The really big story is how many people are voting in these primaries,” he said. “If you just disenfranchise these people, I think you would have problems like you’ve never seen before.”

Trump mentioned a hypothetical scenario in which he’d go to the Cleveland convention in July with about 1,000 delegates and a rival would show up with 500.

He said he believes he’ll capture the nomination before the convention and said he couldn’t imagine failing to get the party’s nod virtually “automatically” in such a scenario.

Will be a riot at the ballot box for sure. I am NOT a Trump supporter (voted for someone else in GA primary) but if Trump is at 1,100+ much less over 1,237 and he’s denied the nomination: a) Trump would (and should) go 3rd party and b) I would not vote for whoever the GOP installed as the candidate and c) I would be done with the GOP.

In that event, if some stay home and crossover “Reagan Democrat” types go back to D, we lose. Personally, I put not losing to H well above all our internal fracas.

Some GOPe are OK with losing to Hillary rather than nominating Trump. Is Cruz OK with being the third-straight designated GOP sacrifice?

Excellent point. Trump needs to be a skilled dealmaker if he falls short of the majority. Apparently, threatening riots a la Sharpton is one way he makes deals. Maybe we need to start posting trigger warnings so that Trump supporters don’t get too upset by perceived microaggressions.

In other words, somebody from our side of the aisle has finally learned how to play by Saul Alinsky rules, four decades after the Democrats started doing it.

Gravitas from gravy? Possible I suppose.

I didn't see a sarc tag. So I'm allowed to elaborate.

Gravitas comes from Latin. It can be used to describe weight of personality, not sure that's in poundage.

grav·i·tas

/ˈɡravəˌtäs/

noun

noun: gravitas

dignity, seriousness, or solemnity of manner. "a post for which he has the expertise and the gravitas"

synonyms: dignity, seriousness, solemnity, gravity, sobriety; authority, weightiness

"a man of gravitas"

antonyms: frivolity

Republicans are too genteel to riot.

Maybe your Father's Republicans. We are at historically unseen levels of anger here.

And it's about damned time. You don't choose war, but sometimes war chooses you.

I’m 83.

We can hold a sign and/or provide refreshments for the young ‘uns.

i would have thought that at my advanced stage of freeperhood a sarc tag (opening or closing) would have been unnecessary

Trump. “Well fellas, it looks as if you need to get behind me, I have 1200 deligates.”
GOPe. “Nope, you have to follow the rules and we say you are not the one we want.”
Trump. “Really? I guess that 500 million check I have here wont be going to you boys then.”
GOPe. “How can we help?”

Hell, I’ll pull my wheelchair out of storage and head to the convention myself if it looks like they’re going to pull some crap.

If it’s very close between Trump and Cruz, it will be more understandable. But if Trump’s the clear winner and they just say ‘no’...

He has a LOT of young men in his camp. 18 to 35. Young men who hate leftists and hate the PC culture that they grew up in. They’ve been given a raw deal, they know it, and Trump is their standard-bearer.

I’ve been saying for months that this would get physically ugly if the GOP tries this crap.

If you stopped making stupid generalizations about Trump supporters, it would have the same effect.

I’m not sure what the straw man was. The poster I replied to talked about buying guns and something going down should Trump not be nominated. I suspect most of that is hyperventilation but the message was pretty clear.

That said, my plan is to not shoot anyone even if the Republicans don’t nominate Donald Trump.

In regards to the GOPe letting Hillary win rather than having Trump be the nominee....

Say that happens...I imagine her strolling into the Oval Office, looking around at things she might change or re-decorate...casually strolling over to the Big Chair behind the desk. She sits down, scoots herself up to the desk, and gently strokes her hands across the top of the desk. She slowly sits back, takes a deep breath, closes her eyes....and when she opens them, a new look is in her eyes. Slitted, half-opened, full of unrelenting evil. With a sneer, she says to herself, “Hello, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy....remember me?”

She then embarks on a plan to not only continue to “fundamentally transform” the country, but also to exact terrible revenge on all her critics, detractors...and US.

I don’t know what form that vengeance will take, but as evil and vindictive as she is, I’m sure it will be imaginative and extremely unpleasant.

If we want to get the point across to the GOPe that THIS is NOT the future we want for our country, and a riot was the last resort to do so, then wouldn’t a riot be appropriate?

If we do the ‘non-violent’ approach and vote all ‘D’s’ down-ticket if we get screwed over, I guaran-damn-tee you....it won’t be ONLY the GOPe that’d be destroyed.

The country would be dead, too. Irrevocably and completely dead.

As long as WE have a voice, there’s still a chance.

He’s just telling it like it is, but all the Fox/CNN/the rest will again say he’s inciting violence.

Not in the way he's implying. The "riot" will be peaceful and manifest itself in millions of voters just staying home in November

Hope that's wrong. They don't care if its Hillary, they don't care if the Republican party is left with its elitist skeleton, they don't care.

Once upon a time it mattered if we withheld our vote but no more. To sit the election out is just making the establishment's job easier.
