I don't know why anyone would think it's a good idea to have Presidential candidates preaching at them. That's what we have preachers for.

Odd, that is exactly what Obama said to Alan Keyes in their debate. That is why he has a pastor (Rev. God Damn America) and a Bible and his own personal prayer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-yUCg0TASc

Alan Keyes three times gets it right. Worth watching all the way through. Very relevant to your point.

Whether he is a “true” Christian is not your place to judge

We are to judge whether people are true Christians or not, otherwise we are apt to fall for false prophets. We are to judge by fruits. Not much easier to judge when someone flat out denies one of the major tenets of Christianity straight off the bat. Forgiveness.

We don't get to condemn someone to hell, but on this Earth we are to judge among our brothers.

Be sincere in your love for others. Hate everything that is evil and hold tight to everything that is good.

You would fail cause you can't even judge what is evil. You can't judge at all. Your love is not sincere.

“Hypocrites,” Jesus said, “why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right?” (Luke 12:56-57)

Trump is claiming to be Christian right? That makes him one of ourselves, right?

To the Jews God said, “If you will walk in My ways, and if you will keep My command, then you shall also judge My house”.

What judge? Run for the hills.

Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?

The above is from 1 Cor 6:2-5 (or as Trump calls it "One Corinthians")

Are you unworthy to judge the smallest of things? Trump playing at being a Christian is not exactly hard to notice. He has gave us examples after examples.

1 Corinthians 5:12-13

Why should I judge outsiders? Aren’t we supposed to judge only church members? God judges everyone else. The Scriptures say, “Chase away any of your own people who are evil.”

Wow, chase away people means you have to judge them.

“every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord” (Isa. 54:17).

Heritage?

“He who is spiritual judges all things. For... we have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:15-16)

Jesus, "ye... have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done" Mathew 23:23

And God will reward those who judge, and do the hard work: “Those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them.” (Prov. 24:25).

Delight,reward and blessing?

Odd, everytime I heard him he was shy about sharing the good news and says it is private thing.

It IS a private thing.

Sharing the Gospel is inherently NOT private.  One may have deeply private relationship with God, but it is supposed to manifest in words and deeds that identify someone as a Christ-follower.  Jesus told the people of Israel they were a city on a hill, a light that should NOT be hid under a bushel, that as believers our love for each other would identify us to the world as those who belong to Him.

Saying the Gospel is entirely private is also to deny the Great Commission, that we are to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone. Believers are on display in the world.  We have something the lost world needs, even if they resent us for telling them.  We must tell them.  But it will never make us popular. Most often the opposite.  For trying to obey Christ, we are vilified and demonized as "holier than thou," judgmental, etc..  It's uncomfortable for people to be told that the rewards of this world will all pass into oblivion, and the only thing that will matter in the end is where do we stand with God, and with each other. Rather than confront their spiritual need, some would rather just lash out at the one who is making them uncomfortable.

This is the great concern I have over this political fight we've had with each other here on FR.  Terrible things have been said. Wickedness and evil coming out of poeple's mouths. Defamation and falsehood, heard-hearted mockery that has no place among those who claim to follow Jesus.  We are in public on this site, supposedly demonstrating to a watching world what it means to be a part of the grand Judeo-Christian tradition, and for those of us who claim to be Christian, what it means to be transformed by the love of Christ. Yet what is our public testimony here? How much of what is being said here will we be reminded of when we come before the Lord to give an account of every idle word that passed our lips (or our keyboards)?  I wonder what that day will be like. It's coming sooner for us old folks. Politics won't matter one little bit in that moment. Just whether we loved as we should have. That's it. Something to consider.

Peace,

SR

Yep I am capable of making my own decision. Really don’t want anyone preaching at me. That includes the Pope and I am Catholic.

So keep it a private thing!

I recommend, again, that you read the story of Samson, Judges 13-16 in order to understand what is going on with Donald Trump and the Presidential race. YHWH is judging the United States of America, and he is using Donald Trump to do it.

All this talk about whether Donald Trump is “godly” or not is so much Satanic gorilla dust to take your mind off the main thing: Your redemption draws near! And if you are not redeemed, the remember: Do NOT take the Mark of the Beast!

Judges 14
1 Now Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 So he went up and told his father and mother, saying, “I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines; now therefore, get her for me as a wife.”
3 Then his father and mother said to him, “Is there no woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all my people, that you must go and get a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” And Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she pleases me well.”
4 But his father and mother did not know that it was of the LORD [YHWH]—that He was seeking an occasion to move against the Philistines. For at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 251). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Haven’t you noticed that no weapon formed against Donald Trump has prospered? Why would that be?

Isaiah 54
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 717). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Every time Donald Trump says, “I love you!” to a crowd, I am reminded when Jesus said:
John 13
34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1047). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Galatians 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1133). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Matthew 7

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17 “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 942). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Luke 6
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
47 “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:
48 “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.
And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it,
for it was founded on the rock.
49 “But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation,
against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1002). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Donald Trump is a type of Samson: Doesn’t drink, has wild hair, chases foreign women, gets really upset if the treat him unfairly, really good a slaying Philistines, and brings down the Temple of Dagon.

This is why I say that Donald Trump is a type of Samson:

Judgse 15
3 And Samson said to them, “This time I shall be blameless regarding the Philistines if I harm them!”
4 Then Samson went and caught three hundred foxes; and he took torches, turned the foxes tail to tail, and put a torch between each pair of tails.
5 When he had set the torches on fire, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and the standing grain, as well as the vineyards and olive groves.

Luke 6:44
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

Ezekiel 3
16 Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth,
and give them warning from Me:
18 “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning,
nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life,
that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 “Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way,
he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
20 “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity,
and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die;
because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin,
and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered;
but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 “Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin,
and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning;
also you will have delivered your soul.”

Nice.

Truth isn’t self righteous. It is just the truth. Something you’re trying to avoid.

Congratulations on your judgeship. I will allow their faith to be between another person and God. I will choose my path and not intentionally act in wrong ways because that is my choice.

Because I know the path of righteousness, I can choose not to fall prey to the Elmer Gantry of this world. I will have time to discern my path because I don’t use my time sitting in judgment of what is in another’s heart. I wish you a great day!

You asked about “how you can be a Christian and ....”

Actually, there is a an answer to that - it’s in the Bible, you know the thing which defines Christianity. Over and Over again the Bible states that what you have to do to be saved is BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God, and died for our sins.

You bring up an interesting point about forgiveness. I have heard people who were Christians say they would not forgive someone who had wronged them because that someone never came to them and said they were wrong and asked for forgiveness.

If you read your bible, you will see that this is NOT the manner in which God forgives. God, in the person of Jesus Christ, DIED for our sins while we were yet sinners, and had not yet asked for forgiveness (if ever). In the parable of the prodigal son, note the father runs to the son and bestows lavish gifts on him and celebrates his return - he did not wait in his house for his son to come and apologize and beg forgiveness.

This is the God we have! He is NOT LIKE men who are full of themselves.

If you require everyone to ask for your forgiveness, be very careful, because the bible is clear with the fact that whatever manner of judge you are, that is how you will be judged. I would hope you stay up late at night trying to figure out what you might have done (knowingly or even unknowingly) that might have offended God, because if you forget to ask for forgiveness......

Fortunately, our God is NOT like that. He is a loving father.

So, let me ask-would it be reasonable for an earthly father to throw out his son because his son did not ask for forgiveness on a matter? No. That does not mean however, the son should not ask for forgiveness. It simply means the position of the son (in our case our salvation) is NOT dependent on our correct behavior - Jesus paid it all.
