Ted Cruz urged to apologize for attacks against Mitch McConnell [price for GOPe support]
CNN ^ | 3/15/16 | Manu Raju

Senior Senate Republicans are calling on Sen. Ted Cruz to rebuild his strained relationships with his colleagues and apologize to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell before the party establishment considers consolidating behind his presidential bid.

Cruz has increasingly called for Republicans to unify behind his candidacy in order to take down front-runner Donald Trump. But in interviews Tuesday with CNN, it's clear Cruz's fellow GOP senators are not willing to do that, at least not yet.

Republican senators said that Cruz must return to Capitol Hill and make the case directly to his colleagues to help ease long-festering tensions. And a large number of Republicans said the fence-mending starts with this: Apologizing to McConnell for calling him a liar last year on the floor of the Senate.

That message was personally delivered by fellow Texan and McConnell's chief deputy, Sen. John Cornyn, who spoke with Cruz by phone after the candidate won their home state's primary earlier this month.

And if Ted doesnt crawl?

You don't quite understand the situation.

See, Rafael (his real name, not Ted) sold his soul to the GOPe devils several weeks ago, and thought he could position himself to be the SAVIOR to stop Trump.

So, this is the Don McConnell simply cashing his chips in.

how far he has fallen

Your FR handle is very appropriate. Where do you see that Cruz has actually apologized?

Thats the line in the sand for Ted. Lets see what he does. If he agrees to suck up, he has the nomination. But then will have betrayed his anti establisment base. Interesting.

Cruz is so confident in his ability to manipulate, I think he will try to walk that line in the sand like a tight rope without actually crossing it.

The establishment may be thinking he is the only guy who can go toe to toe with Trump. Because Cruz has shown he has no scruples as evidenced by his aligning with BLM and Ayers to smear Trump.

That’s the way Trump and his supporters operate.

As a Cruz supporter, he better F’n NOT!

As a fellow Cruz supporter, please don't feed the trolls. We know our candidate better than that. This thread is their desperate and subversive wishful thinking.

Um, it’s not a story until it happens, kind of like demamding Hillary to drop out, or Trump to talk about others more than himself.

If you read the story it says “Senior Senate Republicans are calling on Sen. Ted Cruz to rebuild his strained relationships with his colleagues and apologize to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell before the party establishment considers consolidating behind his presidential bid”

I would be willing to wager that there are not many Trump supporters in that group, but they are apparently willing to be Cruz supporters if he does his bit. I guess we’ll see how this plays out.

This is a set up for ted to either kiss senate ass to become the next GOPe anti trump, or if ted has the stones to say NO, it sets the stage for the mitt romney nomination from the brokered convention

Trump has FL good for you. NC is within 5% at 14.5% the delegates will split. Trump has lost OH. IL will be close the delegates will split. MO will go to Cruz.

This race is far from over but when it is over we are so divided that there is not much temptation for irrational exuberance. If Trump wins maybe he can peel off some of Hillery's 47%ers.

If Cruz apologizes to that no-lip turtleman I’ll dislike him more than I do now. It will prove nothing has changed in WDC. I’m really not seeing how McTurtle can think he’s due an apology when the whole country has awakened and would like nothing better than to destroy this status-quo bunch up there on Crapitol Hill!

I like to think my world view is as close to reality as possible. In the long run that leads to the happiest life. I’ve been wrong before but I like to think I’ve always learned from it. I’m old now and still seeking to minimize friction in my life. I am happy and sense that I am mostly achieving a happy state of mind. It is in that context that I am willing to state that I will be very surprised if Ted Cruz reverses himself here. If he does I will be very disheartened, this from a guy that already distrusts politicians more than most.

but they are apparently willing to be Cruz supporters if he does his bit.

They are whores inviting Cruz to jump off a cliff. They want to win as badly as anyone. I'd be surprised if they don't throw in with Trump on fire sale terms. They may be embarrassed of Trump and his supporters, but he is not an affront to a dignity that they don't have.

If Ted does, then he proves that he never was what he pretended to be.
