Suggest that -
In Syria the Russians are vulnerable to a really pissed off Turkey. They are in a better position to lean on the Turks from Armenia.
This whole foreign intervention thing is expensive, and Russia is feeling the pinch of low oil/gas prices.

Because in Armenia his troops are not trapped should Turkey close the Bosporus Straight.

If the area explodes , Armenia is the place to pound Turkey and keep them out of his country.
