My subdivision will flood tomorrow when the Pearl River tops 21 feet (14 foot flood stage). Just waiting now for it to arrive.

Hebert not much of a town. Like 5 or 6 houses.

Somebody needs to tell Obama stop taking Selfies with his iphone for a while, and tend to this emergency long distance, in some appropriate manner. He’s in England now.

“STAY AWAY OR BE SWEPT AWAY.”

I love it - in the official warning.

I recall driving on a country road in NJ that I took to work every day. Early morning, heavy rain, I got about 300 feet from the one lane bridge and started to head down. hard to see, and then I noticed ponding water on the road so I slowed down a bit. Things just seemed out of sorts and I stopped just to try to confirm that the water wasn’t all that deep ahead of me. I recall being really out of sorts - things didn’t seem quite right but I couldn’t put a handle on it.

Then I saw the speed limit sign at the bridge - the bottom of the sign was about a foot above the water line! I backed up and just stared in awe as my mind slowing took in the scene.

Making a list like that puts things into perspective doesn’t it?

Hard to say. The river hasn’t gotten this high since 1983, which predates the subdivision. I think maybe 3 or 4 feet nearest the river based on other high water marks. I-10 and I-59 are scheduled to close tomorrow.

I was wondering if it was a terrorist act, but it was rain instead. Prayers up to all affected.

I have a second floor on my house if I need to get vertical. I’ll check the bayou tonight before I turn in to see where the level is at. That’s my early warning system.

Hebert
The Cajun pronunciation would be ‘Ay-Bear

If it is Louisiana, it has to be Hebert and is likely pronounced A-bear. No Herbert’s in Louisiana. They had 12 to 15 inches of rain there this last week.

I wasn’t commenting on the pronunciation, I was commenting on the spelling. The title of this post should have the correct spelling.

Please correct the title to Hebert, not Herbert.

Most likely Hebert, like the former Nawlins Saints QB Bobby Hebert.

"I think the best part of your link is that you close the chosen article, and it says ‘Levee breached’ as the headline right underneath it."

Sorry, I am not understanding what you are saying here. :-(
