I disagree very strongly. By 1985 the rot had set in, seemingly irreversibly.

We also need to make the case that freedom is still the most radical idea — and most certainly should reject the notion that freedom is “conservative” or traditional while tyranny is “progressive” and enlightened.
Leftist Utopia is a medieval society in which the majority is deliberately kept ignorant, impoverished, disenfranchised — and lorded over by a cruel, arrogant elite.

No flames from me. I believe the enhancement needed is to call out and keep calling out *behaviors*, not entire classes of people. I certainly agree with you there, and I would not characterize an entire generation of youth based upon the loudest members, who, behaviorally, are 6 year olds.

I have no frame of reference prior to the early 1970s; I remember the 1980s as simply a happier time. The freakshows and permanent victims were out of the picture.
