Ben Carson Says He Would Be Willing to Be Trump’s VP

By BETH REINHARD Mar 12, 2016

FORT LAUDERDALE – One day after he officially endorsed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, former rival Ben Carson said he would be “willing” to be his vice president.

Asked at a Republican Party fundraiser in Broward County, one of the biggest counties in Florida, whether he would be amenable to the No. 2 slot, Mr. Carson said, “I’ve told Mr. Trump that if it was really going to make a big difference I’d be willing to.”

Mr. Carson also told the crowd heavy with supporters of the home-state Sen. Marco Rubio that he didn’t think Mr. Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz could win.

“I looked at the others and I didn’t see path to victory for Rubio or Kasich, and I felt that Cruz was too polarizing and wouldn’t be able to bring across Democrats and independents,” he said Saturday. “We’re in really different type of environment right now where if you can’t extend your base, you’re not going to win, and I’m afraid of what will happen if we lose. ‘’

At a reception before the party’s Lincoln Day dinner, Mr. Carson was also asked what he thought of the fighting among Mr. Trump’s supporters and protesters in Chicago on Friday night. Though some Republicans are raising questions about whether Mr. Trump can unify the party, Mr. Carson blamed Democratic contender Bernie Sanders for the fracas. “We need to be calling on Bernie Sanders because most of them are his people and tell him you need to get out there right now and you need to tell your people this is wrong and this is not America,” he said.

Na, I don’t think so! Trump has said he wants a savy guy who knows how to get stuff done through the Congress. That’s not Dr. Carson. But Trump should find a key place for him in the new admin.

"But Trump should find a key place for him in the new admin."

I think Dr. Carson should apply for Marco Rubio's old job. He'd be much more likely to show up for work.

I never saw this coming. Not in a million years.

Trump will likely expand his lead over Ted Tuesday and you will be soaked in bitterness.

I respect Bennie, but don’t think he is VP material, especially on a Trump ticket ~ yet I do agree with his appointment as Surgeon General...

Sorry you Trumpkins. We understand that any negative comment on your Dear Leader is met with Trumpisms (insults). No wonder Trump referred to folks like you that you would lie down in the middle of Fifth Avenue and take a hail of bullets from him and why Trump “loves the least educated.”
