Trump rejects calls to temper tone at his campaign events

One day after well-organized protesters led Donald Trump to cancel a campaign rally before it even started, the Republican presidential front-runner coldly rejected calls on Saturday to temper the tone of his events. He called such protesters a "disgrace" and blamed them for fueling violent confrontations at his rallies.

The intensity of the hostility Trump faces among those opposed to his candidacy was underscored Saturday morning in Ohio. Secret Service agents briefly rushed the stage to form a protective circle around Trump after a man leapt over a barricade and charged toward the billionaire businessman.

The man, later identified by authorities as Thomas Dimassimo of Fairborn, Ohio, was able to physically touch the stage before he was tackled by security officials. He was later charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic.

Trump's rallies in recent weeks have been marked by frequent clashes between his supporters and protesters, many of whom are young African-Americans and Latinos. Earlier this week, video footage captured a white man punching an African-American protester as police led him out of a North Carolina rally.

On Saturday, Trump's rivals for the Republican nomination harshly criticized Trump for what had been taking place at his events.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Trump had "created a toxic environment" that "has allowed his supporters and those who sometimes seek confrontation to come together in violence." Marco Rubio accused Trump of "dividing both the party and the country so bitterly" that the Florida senator said he may not be able to support Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee.

But Trump on Saturday rejected the suggestion that he or his supporters were to blame, instead laying responsibility at the feet of protesters he panned as "a disgrace."

Trump is absolutely right. It is time to take these fascists thugs on. No backing down. It is past time to straighten the country out. Down with fascists, commies, and all un-American bastards.

Thomas Dimassimo, the troublemaker who tried to get on the stage, is a Muslim ISIS sympathizer among other of his anti-American activities. A shocking new video has emerged of Tommy DiMassimo participating in ISIS propaganda videos, and possibly being a part of their anti-U.S. agenda.

I didn’t see one incident in Chicago where a Trump supporter just started throwing blows.

I saw on CNN in a loop for over two hours two white guys defending the flag while a crazed black thug rained punches on them. Exactly what the CNN Soros brigade thought that showing it would accomplish is puzzling.

He reminds me of someone I knew in Florida who was bi-polar. Very scary dude actually who was fine one minute and very agitated the next, for no apparent reason.

You’re dreaming but it’s no surprise. You think you are much more important than you are. Can’t give you the pats on the head that you need sorry.
Trump has never said that it’s ok to just out of the blue throw someone to the ground unprovoked and you know it.

Where were the calls when these words were uttered?

They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun” – Barack Obama

“I want you to argue with them and get in their face!” – Barack Obama

“I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!” – Barack Obama

“Hit Back Twice As Hard” – Barack Obama

“We talk to these folks… so I know who’s a** to kick“– Barack Obama

Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat” - – Barack Obama

“Punish your enemies.” - Barack Obama

“I’m itching for a fight.” – Barack Obama

____________________________________________________

We condemned Obama for making those statements, now Trump is praised for saying the same stuff.

“I’d like to punch him in the face,” Trump said, remarking that a man disrupting his rally was escorted out with a smile on his face. “He’s smiling, having a good time.”

I've got some serious concerns about Trump's tendency to shoot from the lip.

On the one hand, it is true that he is saying things that need to be said. Political correctness and fear of offending have stifled conservative discourse in many quarters.

But once you take the gloves off, so to speak, things can go too far. When Trump speaks in a provocative way, his supporters cheer, but it does have the unintended consequence of lowering the tone of discourse to that of an argument in a gin mill.

His followers imitate it (I have seen personal insults, obscenities, and attacks directed at fellow FReepers like I have never seen in all my years here, just because they dare to criticize Trump or defend Cruz or Rubio), and his opponents then feel free to imitate it too. That is what Cruz said (not that it was "Trump's fault"), and he has a point.

Obviously, the leftist goons are *primarily* responsible for their own bad behavior. But Trump bears *some* responsibility for creating the climate that encourages it.

Those who are willing to stop supporting a candidate for one statement in the heat of a campaign are (1) ignoring a lot of far more provocative things said by Trump; and (2) probably never supported Cruz in the first place.

Oddly enough....double standards are the only standards that the Trump fans (and coincidentally, the leftists) have. Just like Obama, nothing Trump says or does is ever his fault.

I’m embarrassed that they call themselves freepers now. I never thought I’d feel that way here.

There used to be a ‘modicum of respect’ but this is getting absurd.

Trump is a little autoschediastic in his talk. Some of these posters are..........well, read some and see what you think.

Exactly. Spot on and kudos! Cruz only said the truth, that Trump (the leader of his campaign) bears 'some' of the responsibility for the violent incidents now, due to his own rhetoric. But much like Obama supporters...nothing is ever Trump's fault to his "loyal fans". And yes, all of these "I'm never gonna support Cruz again" posts are just what they smell like.....BS.
