Report: 46,000 Pa. Democrats Become Republicans Due To Trump

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year.

According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump.

There’s even a title for the movement. It’s called “Ditch and Switch” and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trump’s place in the general election.

Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. G. Terry Madonna, tells the paper he has a theory behind the switch.

“With the increase in support in exit polls for Trump among working class, blue-collar Democrats, it is my belief that these are people who fall into that genre,” said Madonna.

The numbers are similar in other states as well.

Probably a bunch of lefties that want to see Trump lose in November to Hill? Right?

If so, those will be especially tasty tears.

“I think the poll deficit is because of typical Republican voters who say they’ll sit out if Trump is the nominee.”

That could certainly be part of it. I know some of those folks, and they are pretty adamant about that. They won’t vote for Trump. When I asked if they would vote Trump if Cruz was his VP, they changed their tune quite a bit. They didn’t say they would, but they were open to the idea. I think a lot of them could be won over if that turns out to be the ticket.

He bankrolls many of their candidates and holds many of their beliefs.

He's just too declasse for words, Biff. These people are just not PLU.

“There is no way the motivations of Drumpf voters has any similarity with the motivations of Reagan voters.”

You’re one of the snottiest blowhards around FR. I voted for Reagan and I’m voting for Trump and even at gunpoint you wouldn’t be able to accurately discuss my motivation.

You really do impress yourself don’t you?

“I have never said that GOPe hated him. He has been a career long government employee that is pretty establishment. With the new Bush group on board there is no doubt except to his ardent followers.”

Cruz is playing to the GOP voters, of course. He’s trying the anti-Trump method to get there but Cruz is 100% establishment GOP. Party before Country, that’s the GOP Way!

“The snarky insults coming from Cruz Inc aren’t uniting the party one bit”

Cruz the outsider who acts a whole lot like an insider. Doesn’t have so much respect for the tea party now that they support another candidate.

No, Trump cannot win in November.

In a debate with Hillary, he would make her seem classy and believable.

Trumpers worship polls that show The Don safely ahead in primaries.

But they ridicule and deny the polls which show Trump losing to the democrat candidate.

Trump supporters are bitter clingers to the one person in the known universe who could give us Hillary.

Not only can Trump win, I would expect him to win rather easily.

I was only 12 when Reagan’s biggest mistake became president in 1988. I find it interesting that younger voters are voting for Cruz while old, angry baby boomers (who created all this mess) want to burn it all down.

He really is pushing us firmly into NeverDrumpf land.

We didn’t want to go.

We wanted to be able to support him into the general election if worst fears were realized and we nominated him.

I had a private message this morning from a freeper who has moved from ‘I will vote for Trump if I have to.’ to ‘It’s going to be really hard for me to vote for Trump,’ to “I cannot vote for this vulgar caricature of a man.’

This is what this parody of a human being has created.

You know perfectly well that is his family name and kind of personifies the man.

We refrained from using it for the longest time, while it was being used constantly elsewhere.

Trump himself has brought this about.

If you really think that, then how can you expect Trump to win?

If Republican voters sit out, who will he get?

Hillary has her built in base ...people that will vote for her if she is in prison.

Trump has his built-in base of true believers who actually think Trump is for the little guy in America.

They think that even though everything in his life and history has shown that he despises little people and has nothing but contempt for them.

That Trump base is stagnant. Worshipful but stagnant.

There is no scenario under which it will grow.

You said “Obama is a rigid ideologue that doesn’t give a rip about other people.”

That statement only partially applied to Trump. He is not a rigid ideologue. In fact, he is not any kind of ideologue. He talks in wild generalities about all the stuff he will do but there is no heart, no conviction, it’s all carnival barker, step right this way..ladies and gents, stuff.

But the last part ... He doesn’t give a rip about other people is totally Trump.

No way. These guys really like him and you can expect to see them voting for him in November.

If this is truly representative of support for Trump and not just their disillusionment with their own party and nothing more. I know quite a few long time Democrats who are committed to not vote for Hillary but aren’t sold on Trump, either

Thank you for that very Trump-like description of Cruz supporters.

I am neither an elitist nor holier than thou (well, depending on how holy thou are)...

That is a hackneyed and false description of Cruz supporters.

It’s a strange time in America when being religious can be used against a candidate.

The honest truth is we are trying very hard to save our country from Donald Trump and, in doing so, save America from both Hillary and Donald because he WOULD lose to her.

When Drumpf told Jorge Ramos to shut up, there was some part of me that admired his candor and hoped there was some way I could support him. Since then he and his cult have hurled so much of what I thought about our movement in a new light. I’m still trying to sort things out, but what I do know: I don’t want to have any part of any movement that supports or tolerates Drumpf. I don’t want to be associated with people, or shoulder to shoulder with people who tolerate his campaign to any degree.

Thank you for your reply. It’s encouraging that there are still rational people on FR.

Hush up, right now.

Using logic on Trump supporters is like spitting into the wind.
