South-eastern Europe’s “Balkan route”, the main passage for migrants to reach more affluent countries to the north, will remain closed permanently, Austria’s Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner told German newspaper “Die Welt” on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Macedonia sealed its border with Greece to illegal migrants after Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, which are on the way to Austria, announced tight new restrictions on migrant entry.
“My position is clear: the Balkan route remains closed and that permanently,” Mikl-Leitner told the newspaper.

It just shifts the smuggler thugs around to dropping customers off near the Italian coast. You take a 40-year old ship....toss fifty passengers on who are willing to pay $2,000 each, and you just cleared a $100,000 for three days of work.
Well just damn. They’re finally getting a clue. Borders do matter and nations have the right and the responsibility to protect the citizenry from savages. This really shouldn’t have to be learned all over again. History is packed with lessons. But liberals erase history as it suits them so they can dictate reality rather than learn from it, only to repeat the same idiotic ideological experiments. So here we are. How ridiculous.
All they need to so is put up a big sign that say, “no free stuff.”
