Ted Cruz has snagged a big endorsement the day before the Mississippi primary: Gov. Phil Bryant.
"It's time for Republicans to join together and unite the party for the good of our state and our nation," Bryant said in a statement. "I urge my fellow Mississippians to join me in standing behind Ted Cruz tomorrow."
"I'm not going to get out and make a big show about it, but Sen. Cruz was in town today, and I met with him and gave him my endorsement," Bryant said, according to The Clarion-Ledger. "It was a hard choice -- I know so many of them, Chris Christie, I know Jeb Bush, I know the ones still running now. They are good people ... But I am also looking toward November and I think if Ted Cruz is nominated, he has a good opportunity to defeat the Democratic nominee."
Bryant also commented on Rubio's campaign, which has been struggling to gain traction after a string of disappointing primary and caucus performances. The Florida senator has won Minnesota and Puerto Rico, and he trails Cruz and Donald Trump in the delegate count.
"I like Marco Rubio," Bryant said...I just had to make the decision on who I think has the best chance to win in November and who I liked best as a candidate and as a person. Ted Cruz has gone to Washington and showed courage and grit to stand up to things he disagrees with."
"I am honored to have the support of Governor Bryant, who is committed to uniting conservatives across his state and the nation behind my campaign," Cruz said in the same statement provided to POLITICO. "The people of Mississippi are fed up with the dysfunction in Washington and know this is the time for courageous conservatives to unite."

The anti-Trump vote is turning out yuge as well, with Cruz also getting wins larger than has happened in these states before. Sometimes both Cruz and Trump in the same state get wins bigger than the previous top winner.
Excellent Choice Governor!
There is one True Conservative who has the best chance to beat Hillary...
Ted Cruz.
Nice job, praising the GOP-e.
Mississipi poll conducted Monday by Magellan Strategies BR( Trump 41, Cruz 17).
The endorsement won’t be helping Cruz.
If the Governor endorses you, you will lose!
To vote Cruz is suicide. Out of the 10 top issues 9 I agree with Cruz, 7 I agree with Trump. Cruz can not win because he is not strong enough. The onslaught against Trump would have killed Cruz months ago.
Tom Barrack is the Executive Chairman of Colony Capital, Inc. and is considered one of the foremost global real estate investors. Mr. Barrack and Mr. Trump have worked together and opposite each other on past deals. They have had a great relationship and share a mutual admiration for their respective accomplishments.
Barrack said, Donald is one of the smartest and most astute businessmen I have had the pleasure of knowing. His mastery of financial, political and economic intellectual complexity combined with his charm and emotional intelligence when partnering with New York labor unions, governmental regulatory bodies, Wall Street lenders, sophisticated institutional global investors, demanding developers, global media and entertainment companies and hard-working employees, is a dynastic art form. I have invested with Donald in a multitude of transactions over three decades and he has always exceeded my expectations on every measurable metric of excellence. Donald is the only candidate in America who comes to the campaign trail already possessing power, wealth and celebrityship He does not seek the Presidency to gain those accolades he has them. He seeks the Presidency to return those great attributes to America from whom he received them. I am happy to give Donald J. Trump my full endorsement to become the next President of the USA.
So far these Gov endorsements mean squat.
“I like Marco Rubio,” Bryant said...”
LOL!!
And if we ever need to elect the REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER IN CHIEF I will happily vote Trump. But we don’t, so I won’t.
Were they waiting to endorse until they made sure Bloomberg was dropping out?
Is the Governor Haley Barber’s puppet? If he is, that’s the Establishment speaking.
I would ignore that if I were Cruz.
I don’t know.
