Boy, does Lonsberry ever nail this topic. Trump was baited by the media, the GOPe and Rubio and failed each test. He fell for the bait and got down into the mud with them. Quite frankly, it was embarrassing to watch. This is not how a potential president acts and talks in public. He had outstanding momentum, was building a great following and giving us all hope that we would forever rid ourselves of Obama, Hillary!, Sanders and Rubio, and it's all starting to unravel because he now looks like an undisciplined schoolboy who has to have the last insult. I can't believe it's that hard to look presidential on national television.

Get it together, Donald. We've got no where else to go. Not Cruz, not Kasich, not Romney and certainly not Rubio.

I made the same point as this article in a comment I made in a thread yesterday. I was taken to task by a vocal Trump supporter who said that it was my opinion and I shouldn’t project onto others who support his campaign.

Unless it’s completely against his character (which it may be), Trump needs to tone down the childish reactions to criticism and respond appropriately to taunts by others designed to elicit the very reactions descibed above.

Each time he gets a day or two into being statesman like he loses it again. Either he still does not get the Geneva convention or is just saying he will change the laws for what? He can’t change the Geneva convention. One would think his supporters would question his turn to supporting high tech H1B visas, but apparently not, he has modified all of his positions since the campaign started.
He has been a crony capitalist his entire life. He will just be on the other side if elected.
I still haven’t found a reason to trust anything he says.

I think you should walk a mile in his shoes first. Its easy to snipe and nearly impossible to nail the perfect tone when being attacked with lies from all sides. You are asking the impossible. If you don’t fight back you lose for sure and you need to look aggressive to fight back. Romney was polite and they steamrollered him.

People that parse every comment made by a candidate against their personal idea of Presidential are part of the problem. While you are waiting for your perfect candidate the horses are out of the barn and being loaded onto the Global Express train. Dictators can look presidential, the cavalry not so much...

It is the 11th hour...who’re you going to call?
Trump is my idea of Presidential, he calls out the liars and corruption, he is committed to America and Americans being stronger, better, safer and more secure. He wants to bring opportunities and roll back Government encroachment. He is fairminded and seeks the advice of experts in each area. He looks for competence not partisan ideology. The rest is just the cover, I’ve read the book.

“Time for Trump to act like a grown up” is the Republican establishment line par excellence.

It means time to concede to the amnesty agenda and tell us how illegal and criminal aliens from South of the border simply want to do the jobs Americans won’t do.

I agree Trump could have handled it a lot better, but it's impossible for me to ignore he's fighting on all sides, including the GOPee.

Here's a clue: anyone acceptable to us will be unacceptable to the GOPee. Kick Trump loose, and nothing important will have changed.

Trump hasn't been part of the eGOP "scene" in DC and those that have spent their entire lives climbing the social ladder in the eGOP are scared they won't retain their positions if Trump wins. Period. THAT is why they oppose Trump.

Now that you seem to have all but secured the Republican nomination for president, what are you going to do with it? How are you going to assure the American people that you are serious about the job, and that you have a specific and substantive plan for moving the country forward?

Trump has been laying out his plans for months...Perhaps English isn't your first, or second language...

I am a Cruz supporter who is very willing to support Trump, but I think Lonsberry raises some excellent points.

Trump is attracting a lot of potential new voters, but he risks permanently alienating a large number of existing voters that are crucial to his electoral chances.

He doesn’t need to change his message, just alter the way he delivers it a bit to make it more palatable to a wider range of voters. I hope he is up to it, because it sure looks like he is going to be our nominee.

Trump got down there because that is where he is comfortable.

I can't believe it's that hard to look presidential on national television.

It is not that hard. Cruz has demonstrated this over and over. He also IS the one that can lead us out of the quagmire we are in.

That’s not fair. He does need to tone it down a bit at times but Donald is the last chance to make America great again-RESPECTED again.
He is the ONLY one who will stand up to corrupt politicians.
HE IS THE VOICE OF WE THE PEOPLE..who have been ignored by those we put in power.
