The 28-year-old was cited by the police two years ago for spitting on the ground outside his East Harlem public housing building.

I have more than a little difficulty accepting that assertion at face value. Nice to see Mary Mapes found work.

Yes, a bit hard to believe. There’s rather a difference between spitting on the ground and deliberately breaking someone’s window, or keying their car.

Maybe when the officer commented on it, he answered rudely instead of apologizing—which is never a good idea.

Actually NYC police have been handing out spitting tickets. If you don’t pay you get a warrant and the costs quickly add up...
