Romney stokes GOP civil war with anti-Trump message (Decent analysis)

WASHINGTON — The Republican civil war over Donald Trump is now raging in full fury.

Mitt Romney's extraordinary takedown Thursday of the Republicans' 2016 front-runner — he cited Trump's “bullying, the greed, the showing off, the misogyny” — was the most potent signal yet that the GOP establishment desperately wants to stop the brash business mogul from wining the 2016 nomination. Never in recent political history has the previous party presidential nominee so blatantly and brutally railed against the next in line.

Insiders, foreseeing a calamity not only for GOP White House hopes but for prospects of keeping the Senate majority, are frantically trying to organize and fund someone else. They face daunting odds. The trouble is that having someone such as Romney lead the anti-Trump charge might make the task more difficult.

“He's exactly the kind of establishment person people were turning against,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

The most balanced thing I've read on Romney's nothing burger speech. I think he just cemented the nomination for Trump and probably disqualified himself for a cabinet appointment at the same time.

I thought Romney was a pissy imitation of Harry Reid. He forgot to wear a patch over one eye.

The people inclined to vote for Trump are the same people who had to hold their noses and vote for Romley, McQueeg, Dubya, Bob Dull, etc.

It's time for the loser crony-establishment to hold their collective noses and STFU.

Romney accusing Trump of getting a “free ride” to the White House is a laugh. I think Trunp has more of his own money invested in this endeavor than any candidate ever. And with Trump surrounding himself with people like Jeff Sessons, Newt Gingrich, and Sarah Palin that last person who should be blabbing about their conservative credentials is Mitt.

The loser crony establishment bunch seem bent on destroying the party rather than letting a candidate they can’t control receive the nomination. Things that make you go hmmmmm

I can understand Romney feeling this way, but I thought he’d be smarter than to do something like this.

It was pathetic. Romney is campaigning to be the White Knight at a brokered convention. What a POS.

So let me get this straight. Romney whose chief aide Gruber gave the nation first Romney Care and then Obama care as he wrote these laws and called us peons “stupid” while testifying before congress.
Add to that Massachusetts becoming the first state giving the ok to same sex marriage which has become a national tidal wave.
And not once, but twice has run from the Presidency and LOST. He is now the guy who is going to tell us what is good for the GOP? I don’t think so. You need to google Angela Tantaros who basically exploded Mitt Romney on FOX or Fox Business yesterday...
I am so over this election and will be glad when it’s gone.

If Romney/Ryan gets resurrected we need to surround Quicken Loans Arena with a million protesters in July and make the crony-establishment quake in their Birkenstocks.

You are right Buckeye. A close friend of mine has a cousin who was a state coordinator for Romney in 2012 and worked his butt off to get him elected.

According to my friend, the cousin told him that he strongly advised the Romney people to stay out of the fray because it would make Mitt look like an ingrate and backfire.

We see how well they listened.

You’re not going to find the perfect candidate unless you resurrect George Washington from the dead. So we should all join together and promote the only candidate who can defeat Clinton and also expand the tent of the Republican party.

Cavuto beating the Mitt tax return dead horse reminds me of Lt. Cmdr. Philip Francis Queeg telling of his strawberry ice cream victory

Got that right. We'll be looking at Chicago 1968, Round 2

And boy, will I be PISSED OFF if they force me to actually spend time in Cleveland.
