First on CNN: Team Romney explores blocking Trump at RNC

Mitt Romney has instructed his closest advisers to explore the possibility of stopping Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, a source close to Romney's inner circle says.

The 2012 GOP nominee's advisers are examining what a fight at the convention might look like and what rules might need revising.

"It sounds like the plan is to lock the convention," said the source.

Romney is focused on suppressing Trump's delegate count to prevent him from accumulating the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the nomination.

But implicit in Romney's request to his team to explore the possibility of a convention fight is his willingness to step in and carry the party's banner into the fall general election as the Republican nominee. Another name these sources mentioned was House Speaker Paul Ryan, Romney's running mate in 2012.

I would sure like to know---is it worth a vanity? Here's the question:

Many Cruz supporters have said that if Trump is the Republican nominee they will stay home, and many others have said they will vote Hillary if Trump is the Republican nominee.

I would sure like to know---for the Cruzers who fall into this category---stay home or vote Hillary should Trump be nominee---what if Romney or Ryan is the Repub nominee?

To the Cruz people who said they would stay home if Trump wins the nomination: would you vote Romney or Ryan if they were the nominee against Hillary?

To the Cruz people who said they would vote Hillary if Trump wins the nomination: would you vote for Romney or Ryan if they were nominated, or would you still vote Hillary?

I think this would be very interesting to know.

Romney is a disloyal bastard. Romney should be expelled from the Republican party. He can take his rumplickers with him. Loyalty, honor and duty are unknown traits to Mitt Romney.

The mask is off. Romney isn’t disloyal. He’s always been loyal to the donor class and we just didn’t understand that. Now it is 100% clear. Thank you Donald J. Trump!

If they do, then it puts them firmly in The Club of the GOPe, insider, rich-boy, plutocrat, oligarch, string-puller, donor class GOP aristocracy: the very powers-that-be that foist the McCains,Romneys and Rubios on the rank-and-file working class GOP voters to whom they have complete disdain for.

Who was the candidate that rank-and-file working class GOP voters wanted rather than McCain? If nobody showed up to run effectively against him, is it any surprise that he won? And if Thompson or Huckabee or Brownback or Tancredo or somebody else had gotten the nomination and (inevitably) lost, wouldn't we be thinking of them as Establishment candidates now?

I now think, even if Trump loses legitimately, the GOP will lose the Senate, maybe even the House.

“I now think, even if Trump loses legitimately, the GOP will lose the Senate, maybe even the House.”

yeah, the anger of the rank-and-file runs deep against the shenanigans of the GOPe power brokers. It makes me wonder if these fools still live in the 20th century and have no idea that the Internet makes their old-school kinds of machinations nearly impossible to hide from the masses.

Romney shamed himself before the whole nation today. Not only repeating the same type of lies and innuendo that were used on him but stabbing a person in the back who had used what leverage he could to help him get the Republican nomination to run against Obama. I voted for Romney and was disappointed when he and Paul Ryan essentially threw the race to Obama for whatever unknown reason. He will never be trusted by anybody with good sense for another elective office.

The GOPe is frantic to destroy Donald Trump because his election will reveal, uncover, the extent of their unification with the socialist democrat party. They also must fear the probing into all aspects of how the party apparatus has been shaped to benefit their own concerns. They are willing to destroy the GOP rather than to accept the elected choice of the American voters.

The purpose of Romney is to let Hillary win. GoPe prefers that to Trump. The mess today has probably already sealed that.

This election is so crazy we might end up with 4 candidates. Hillary, Rubio or Cruz as the party picks and Bloomberg and Trump as indies.

In that scenario the vote would be so fractured that Trump’s loyal base would be enough for him to win.

I will never vote for Mittens.

And if the party bosses foist him on us, I will stay home in November and I am determined to watch the GOP burn down.

The party has outstayed its welcome.”””

Op-en Letter to Mitt Romney: I am pissed ::::

First, let me say that you are a very pale comparison to your father, George, who was the CEO of American Motors when I worked there many years ago. Every year, he came thru the entire plant in Kenosha, Wis, and asked each person their name & their job & introduced himself-—and THANKED US for working there & doing a good job. Something you might want to consider—thanking those of us who DID vote for you 4 years ago.

George was a classy guy——but YOU ARE NOT a classy guy.

Today you proved that myth once & for all, and you should be ashamed. I didn’t think Mormons behaved like you did today. The ones I know certainly DO NOT.

I have been a registered Republican for over 55 years.

YOU already had your chance to stop Obama & keep us out of the debt crisis & refugee problems that have been foisted upon the USA. YOU FAILED !!!!!!

I held my nose & voted for you—because I was a Republican & because I actually thought you were a polite Mormon gentleman. The only part that was correct is that you are Mormon. I can assure you that as of today, Willard, YOU are embarrassing other Mormons. Except probably Dirty Harry Reid.

I am more than little bit disgusted at the constant attacks on American voters—especially those of is in what is supposed to be your party.

I have worked since I was 16. I am now 76 and still doing some bookkeeping. I have been self-employed since 1980.

I own my property—free & clear!!! (4th house).
I Own all my vehicles & rolling stock —free & clear !!!
I own all my appliances & furniture & electronics—free & clear!!!
I have my property insurance paid up until Feb 2017.
I have my property taxes paid up to Aug 2016.
I own all my books, dishes, clothes & other household items.
I own my horses, hay, saddles & all the other tack.

I owe about $6500 on 2 credit cards.

MY net worth is none of your business, but it exceeds $400,000. My current monthly Social Security income is less than $1200 a month, but I am surviving with careful attention to details.

SOOOO_ How am I ‘SUCKER’ for believing in Trump? I and many others whom you & 535 members of Congress think don’t count have been voting for years. WE will select who we want——NOT a group of back-stabbing GOP ESTABLISHMENT people who have obviously lost all touch with those of us who work with our hands.

Every one of you think we are too stupid to make up our own minds. How stupid did I have to be to accumulate what I have & to achieve what I have done??? I have done bookkeeping for over 45 years for one of my clients. IF I was so stupid as you seem to think—along with your back stabbing ‘friends’, how come I am still doing his books??? NEVER had an audit on one of my clients when I was doing their books, either. NEVER !

Willard, you were declared a hero when you stepped in & saved the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Good on you for that, But-—YOU & I both know you didn’t do all of that at the last minute all by yourself. You called in the best help you could find, kicked ass & didn’t take names.
Whatever corruption & graft had been going on got stopped & the games were a success.

You are entitled to pat yourself on the back for this——but where do you get off thinking all of us who do our work each & every day for years & years are ‘SUCKERS”???? HOW DARE YOU??? Many of us are unsung heroes when we step in the help or clean up a prior mess and perhaps WE are the only ones who remember for very long, but WE ARE NOT STUPID-—nor are we SUCKERS !!!

After hearing your unworthy and scathing attacks on the ONE person worth voting for in this Republican election cycle, I must tell you I don’t know a better word to apply to you now other than DISGUST!!!

Maybe you do NOT realize that over 3 million MORE voters came out to vote 2 nights ago than ever before on Super Tuesday. People who had given up on trying to feel like they are truly part of the process came out & made themselves known. 3 million in one day!!! 20,000 registered Democrats in Massachusetts (You might remember that state, Willard) changed their voter registration to REPUBLICAN. That is just a little indication of how mad Americans are at the ways we have been treated for many, many, many years. The GOP needs a severe wake-up call & the voters are sending it!!! Quit trying to portray us in a light which is more than insulting. Maybe you and your other GOP ESTABLISHMENT buddies might never need my bookkeeping skills-—but you sure as Hell need MY vote!!!!

You remember Jeb Bush? The darling of the GOP? Jeb Bush held a breakfast rally on the Monday before the Las Vegas debate——and 18 people showed up !!!! EIGHTEEN!!! It was a cold time of the year——18 should have just showed up to get in out of the cold & get some free eats!!!! EIGHTEEN !!! Are you enough of a businessman, Willard, to understand how pitiful that number was?

Trump had to change venues 3 times for one appearance early on because he had so many people who wanted to attend. He didn’t disappoint them-—his people made the arrangements & they ended up in a larger venue—with less than 2 days to make those changes. His people know how to think fast & on their feet. Not every decision in this country is made by a COMMITTEE!!! Some of us actually make decisions each & every minute of the day-—and we succeed!!! No help from the GOP Establishment, either.

Jeb ——The GOP ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATE——could only draw 18 -—Trump has had rallys with as many as 50,000 attending !!!! Jeb can only have wet dreams about 50,000 at a rally!!!

Why cannot all of you ESTABLISHMENT Republicans realize that we little guys out here in the wilderness are damn tired of all the lies & double-crossing the GOP has done for far too many years & THANK Trump for bringing in the “lost ‘ voters & NEW voters???

As a life long bookkeeper, I have always felt that a successful businessperson should be President & clean out the deadwood employees & the waste & the foolishness. Why should American taxpayers pay to send a group to MONGOLIA to talk to the natives there about POLLUTION????? WHY? Waste of money. How about a GRANT to a ‘forever’ grad student to study the behavior of insects in South America during a full eclipse??? Waste. How about another GRANT to a ‘forever’ grad student to study why prostitutes in HONG KING wish to be prostitutes??? WASTE!!! Perhaps a better study would be to try & find out why ANY American still votes at all for 535 + 1 losers who only tell us anything to get elected & then go & do whatever they want-—forgetting what they ran on for their election. We all are NOT DAFT! We can remember what lies you all promised us. We were promised the border wall years ago. Congress voted yes-—the funds were voted for-—and then the EPA got that all shut down because of an ‘environmental review”??? Where did those allocated funds go?? Have you & your other ESTABLISHMENT GOP members ever had the guts to actually GO to the border & see the trails of debris & damage the invaders are doing? Have you EVER talked to the ranchers who are now carrying guns whenever they are awake—all over their properties??? Have you every dont a couple of night RIDE ALONGS with Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County in Arizona? Maybe it would open all of your eyes.

Willard-—Have YOU ever bought a copy of the entire United States budget & actually read it thru-—page for page? I have a brother that did that a few years back. Made himself complete the task. Took him many weeks. He told me that IF the American taxpayers knew how much money was wasted in this country, the taxpayers would burn all of Washington DC to the ground & hang every single member of Congress, along with the President. They are a cabal that only thinks about taxing us & spending without telling us up front where the money is going-—or why/

Obamacare is a problem all of itself-—and YOU gave Obama the seeds for that debacle with your healthcare in Massachusetts. NOW- instead of just a couple or 3 million people burdened by this every expanding mess, you have affected nearly every USA citizen. Hope you are proud of that-—because we definately are not impressed!!!

In short-—Willard-—Please go crawl back into wherever you have been hiding for the past 4 years. Do not think for one little minute that you can mount a more energetic campaign than you gave us 4 years ago, and you certainly cannot draw the crowd that Trump has drawn. Four years ago, you could bare draw flies—and most of that was Republicans trying to be polite.

By the way-—IF you do not know the difference between a BALANCE SHEET / NET WORTH-—a statement that Trump already gave to the RNC months ago —and an income tax return ( a one year snapshot of a persons productive life), please drop your whining.

I can repeat what I said above-—I have a decent NET WORTH but I earn so little income every year now, I don’t even have to file a tax return. One set of figures doesn’t compare to the other-—apples & oranges.

Ask yourself what you can do about the immigrants & ‘refugees’ in Salt Lake City who are already causing trouble for your citizens there. Put your expertise to work on your own back porch——and quit calling myself & other voters SUCKERS !!!

Interesting. Will the Cruz backers on FR support this if it means undermining the will of the electorate/delegates?

The voters have spoken and will speak in the weeks ahead. Those who go to the polls and choose their candidates expect the process to be followed and the majority delegate winner to be the nominee. Thwarting the will of the party voters disqualifies those who do not submit to the will of the party voters. Those who oppose the majority delegate winner must step aside or be ejected.

Class Action Lawsuit.
Violation of election laws.
If they wrote the laws to deny Americans the right to select their candidates, then sue them to the Supreme Court and make them defend it.
Like their little unConstitutional gerrymandering map.
Destroy the party, sue the principals in civil court and take all their money
