The officers are being treated for their injuries, police tweeted. Their conditions are not yet known.

In a brief statement, Prince William County police asked for patience as they investigated.

Officer Ashley Guindon was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in the 13000 block of Lashmere Court in the Lake Ridge area.

The male subject at the home murdered his wife and then ambushed the officers with a rifle as they approached the scene. Officer Guindon was fatally wounded and two other officers, including her training officer, were wounded.

The man who shot them was arrested at the scene.

Officer Guindon had been sworn in the previous day and was working her first day on the street with her training officer.

Sounds like the opening to “DREDD” where he briefs trainee judge Anderson before her first street patrol:

“...You may be engaged in armed combat. Twenty percent do not survive their first day. ...”

FWIW, I live on the other side of I-95 about 1 1/2 -2 miles from where this shooting took place.

FWIW2: Virginia does execute its murderers. (But only after the usual decade and a half of judicial appeals nonsense.)

“We have plenty of crime in Virginia without DC help. Prince William County has serious gang problems, including MS-13.”

Do you think the shooter was a gang member or MS-13?

11:30 p.m.

Authorities say the suspect accused of killing a police officer and another woman is a military serviceman.

Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Paul Ebert says he has authorized a capital murder charge, along with other counts, against the suspect, who has not been identified.

Police say Police Officer Ashley Guindon, who was sworn in Friday and started her first shift Saturday, died from her injuries after responding to a verbal argument Saturday. The condition of the two other officers shot is not known.

Virginia law allows for the death penalty for the murder of a police officer.

Ebert said the suspect will make his first court appearance on Monday.

Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, said in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Saturday night that a woman was killed in the dispute but police declined to confirm a woman died in the domestic violence call. Corey also said there was a child in the house who was not injured.

It happened in Woodbridge, mostly to the east of I 95 and notoriously full of illegals, 20 to a house.

Do you think the shooter was a gang member or MS-13?

No. I was just pointing out that gangs are a problem in that county.

You have probably already heard that the suspect turned out to be a career military man working at the Pentagon.
