4 reasons Chris Christie endorsed Donald Trump
Washington Post ^ | February 26,2016 | Chris Cillizza

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Donald Trump's presidential candidacy on Friday in Texas, a stunning development sure to add to the growing sense of inevitability around Trump's bid for the Republican nomination.

The only question anyone was asking in the wake of the endorsement was "why"? Or, more accurately, "WHY??!?" After all, Christie had savaged Trump as unelectable just a few weeks ago. So, why the abrupt about-face?

Yep, right on the mark. Now we will see more, such as the Maine governor, hopping onboard the Trump Train for similar reasons. Anyone with political aspirations is going to see that Trump is likely going to be holding center stage for the next 8 years, so they have to decide whether they want to be on the leading edge, or in the peleton behind him. Now, before he has the nomination sewed-up, is the time to step forward and add some value, afterward they will just be one among many following the leader.

As in business, disruptions create opportunities. I’d look for more governors to endorse Trump in the next few days as well as some outsiders who might see an opportunity to leapfrog to the top of the DC pyramid.

Christie will never be Trump’s pick for VP. If Trump wins, I think Christie is almost certain to be nominated for the U.S. Attorney General post.

I thought so, too.

And no one..and I mean no one, knew. Not one whiff of a leak. I very much like that part. At least some secrets can still be kept in this country.

None are so blind as they that will not see. A four ton Rino just endorsed Trump, and they say he wants to be Attorney General. Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room.

Christie knows better than anyone that he will never be elected president. I like the guy, but a fat slob from New Jersey just doesn’t inspire a lot of people west of the Delaware River.

Forget about eight years. I’m sure everyone wants to be a VP contender because they can’t even see Trump staying in that job for four months, let alone a full four-year term.

Agree, he doesn’t bring what Trump needs in a VP, but he’s going to make one hell of an AG. I look forward to him examining at all the dirt that’s been swept under Holder’s carpet, including the Black Panthers. Fast & Furious, and even with luck, Lois Lerner.

Hey, sometimes you don’t need to be elected to be President for that matter.

Gorilla Dust!!

Real Reason: Christy has been a Trump operative all a long!!!!

The RNC/GOPe are now facing the looming probability that Chris Christie was a mole, an insurgent, the entire time.
They have to think about it that way. Sure Christie and Trump were known friends, but the RNC/GOPe are now faced with hindsight filled with worry. While Christie was inside the network, was he more “loyal” to his friend Donald Trump than he was to his role within the apparatus?
Notice today when asked about his endorsement the key phraseology from Christie spoke about loyalty to his friend Donald Trump. The word loyalty is key. This is “code of Omerta” type loyalty. The witnessing audience might not fully grasp the intense significance.
It cannot be overstated how significant the concerns of the RNC/GOPe must be. They must be apoplectic, heck, beyond apoplectic, with a realization that Christie was not who they thought him to be all along. We can be certain the RNC/GOPe phones and emails are still in full meltdown mode.
One of the more consequential realities (what helps prove the thesis) is when you remember how importantly loyalty is viewed by Donald Trump. For the GOPe to now contemplate Chris Christie might have been part of that Trump inner circle all along is almost unfathomable.

Not sure. Christie was a damn fine U S attorney. Attorney General maybe? I think Cruz has taken himself out of the running with his desperate attacks on Trump.
Shame too, I was thinking he would make a fine Attorney General and be the next appointee to the Supreme Court. Sad to say, I see no “Judicial Temperament” there.

I read that article ; it was the biggest puff of hot air that guy’s put out yet. You know you’re being misled when somebody waves their hands, whistles and sets up all kinds of straw men while studiously avoiding the obvious.

Given that Christie offered his endorsement to Trump by phone, and knowing the NSA snoops in on every single call, I’m surprised the NSA didn’t give the Uniparty leaders a heads up. The Uniparty was completely thrown off by this announcement.

Which means Trump now communicates over a secured phone line.

Proper nouns are useful things. Care to try again with a few proper nouns?

For all I knew, you could have been referring to Chris Cillizza. BTW, once an editor, always an editor. ;-)
