Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump
The New York Times ^ | February 25, 2016 | Staff

Posted on 02/26/2016 9:50:55 AM PST by abb

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey endorsed Donald J. Trump on Friday, a major turn in a wild race and one that gives the New York businessman a major boost as he heads into the pivotal Super Tuesday contests.

Mr. Christie was a candidate himself until he came in sixth place in New Hampshire’s primary. But his backing of Mr. Trump comes after weeks of him saying that it was time for the “entertainment” portion of the race to end, and as he had said that the type of executive leadership that a governor has is important.

Have you forgotten South Carolina already?

Remember they said it is evangelical country? (2/3 voters)
Remember it was Cruz country?
Remember they said Cruz had the ground game?

So what happened? Trump wins in a landslide!
Cruz fails to win a SINGLE county.

I do not guarantee Trump wins NY. But keep in mind you are in NY city. We are talking about NY state!

“Huckabee will give more evangelical street cred to Trump.”

And bring in more of the southern vote.

Christie’s support shows who Donald Trump really is — an Establishment RINO.

Indeed. Here’s what I am really thinking about here:

I think the Democrats are looking to see if Trump closes this out and if Clinton can bury Sanders. If both those things happen fairly quickly, Obama will be the one to indict Hillary and Biden/Warren moves in as the ticket.

Do you really think Cruz has a snowball’s chance of winning a general election? He has VERY narrow appeal & is mostly unlikeable. Have you seen the outtakes from his commercials? Staged hugs of his mom & dad? The wife being directed on exactly what to say & how to say it? The Cruzes are very disingenuous.

Particularly Florida. If Trump can lock up the south by a reasonable margin, more effort can be done to get wins in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York and New Jersey.

Democrats will have to spend huge resources defending formerly solid territory.

If Trump can actually get in the 20% range of the black vote, along with what Romney got for Asians and Hispanics (30%) ... Thinking Trump does at least that well among these folks, then we’ll have to see what numbers Trump gets among whites. If Trump gets 70% of the white vote, he gets 51% overall, even if no minority vote. If you add those in, Trump is looking at a mega victory similar to LBJ in 64 or FDR in 36. YUUUUUUGE

I saw this coming when CC dropped out.

I am certain he’ll be considered for VP but most likely AG.

I tend to agree. I remember when Monica Crowley first mentioned this scenario and my gut said Bingo. . But, never underestimate What Clinton might Do. .

I am not a supporter of Cruz. But I think he would have a better chance than Trump. Trump doesn’t have narrow appeal and is unlikable? Effeminate and unmanly? Acts like a hysterical teenage girl? The media has been promoting Trump and covering for him, they will do that in the general election? He will go down in flames, if he actually goes through with it.

I appreciate the admonitions, but I do have to disagree with your suggestion to Ted.

This is a Republican Primary, and most of us understand that a person’s character is shaped by their biblical faith and practice of the moral principles religion teaches. Reagan often quoted the scriptures directly AS a statesman.

If we truly have arrived (as I believe we have) at the place where the exclusion of scripture and religious principles in political discourse is necessary, then the hope for any shred of liberty to be protected by either the government or maintained by the people it governs, will be in ruins.

Liberty as intended for us was established in the Christian/biblical worldview. A nation that has to exclude extolling those principles out of offense to the body politic is a nation that is not capable of maintaining liberty and will always empower government to act in the place of God.

It is exactly the root cause of how we have arrived at this point as a nation.

What happens if Cruz loses TX? Is he done? Then Robot loses in FL. Then they are both toast. Likely scenario?

The Cruzes are very disingenuous.

Seriously? Trump called himself Evangelical last year in Iowa and said recently he reads the Bible more than anyone else. He was on Reality TV and most of his feuds are staged. He said Cruz was not eligible, was eligible, was not eligible, was eligible, and was not eligible in less than a year. How is Trump not disingenuous?

if they are fighting demons - who cares if they are not my followers as long as they do it in my name.

But Trump's not fighting demons. He is emulating them. Trump doesn't even acknowledge who the enemy is.

Basically, it sounds like you get all your info about the candidates from the mainstream media. Do you think that's a good idea?

I have strong criticisms of Cruz, but not the ones the media & Trump supporters are parroting. The media is definitely out to get Cruz. And the other non-Trump Republicans to an extent.

The second most liberal Republican endorses the most liberal?

Yep. And sadly, many here on FR have suddenly developed quite an affinity for liberals. They now chime in to say that Planned Parenthood does good things, that Vera Coking deserved to have her property taken away because of her greed, and that government-paid health care is suddenly a good thing.
