Laid Off Disney Worker Breaks Down in Tears Before Senate Panel

A Disney IT worker who was laid off and replaced by foreign workers along with hundreds of his colleagues broke down in tears before a Senate panel Thursday while telling his story.

“During the holiday season of 2014, I was sent a meeting invitation by a prominent Disney executive. With an excellent review in hand along with company announcements of record profits my mind buzzed with thoughts of a promotion or a bonus,” Leo Perrero, the former Disney worker testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest. “I walked into a small conference room with about two dozen highly respected fellow IT workers. The Disney executive made a harsh announcement to us all.”

That harsh announcement, Perrero said, was that Disney was laying him and hundreds of others off. He would be without a job in 90 days.

“Your jobs have been given over to a foreign workforce,” Perrero recalled the executive saying. “In the meantime you will be training your replacements until your jobs are 100 percent transferred over to them and if you don’t cooperate you will not receive any severance pay.”

Its more than cheap labor. There has to be tax breaks and other givmes involved. I’ve seen companies do this even though the cost was higher.

In the meantime you will be training your replacements until your jobs are 100 percent transferred over to them and if you don't cooperate you will not receive any severance pay.

This leads to an interesting concept for a class action lawsuit.

People refer to the H-1B scam as visa "abuse," but not "criminal." The H-1B visa is for temporary workers for jobs where qualified Americans cannot be found. One might argue the good-faith search when companies that couldn't "find" qualified Americans and then hire H-1B visa workers. That is abusing the process by not really looking for qualified Americans, or just looking where Americans will not be found.

However, terminating experienced job incumbents and forcing them to train their H-1B replacements crosses the line from "abuse" to "criminal activity," as qualified Americans clearly exist to do the job. Therefore, compelling the displaced employee into silence of the crime by withholding severance becomes extortion and forcing the employee to be an accomplice after the fact.

I would love to be on the jury because the jury can award more then asked for if they feel it is appropriate.

Indians are browner, so Disney gets to report a less white work force.

Wouldn’t a Class Action Suit leave very little to the victims? due to lawyers getting their large share.

We are a nation whose government has been at war with its citizens for fifty years and is engaged in replacing them with one by one with mostly Third World immigrants, legal and illegal.

The American people put a stop to this insanity this year or America The Beautiful is finished forever. It’s as simple as that.

H1B laborers are serfs. They have no rights as American job-holders do.

They are recycled back to India if they peep.

The Road to Serfdom runs through H1B.

I have to ask the obvious question.

What if everyone had just walked out and refused to train replacements?

I know, no severance pay, but holding that hostage is borderline blackmail anyway.

Isn’t this what Donald Trump said he does? Hires foreigners legally at his world famous country club.

What’s the difference between what Disney does does(bad) and what Trump does (good)?

Well, I would see it as borderline, but then, in 45 years of working, I have never had a job where we got severance pay.

When the work was done, the money stopped.

Sure, but a little of something is better than 100% of nothing.

It’s like, say, the Fraternal Order of Police happy to get 2% of the take when people donating think the scumbag fundraiser is getting the 2%.
