I believe there is a large segment of Trump's generation that want a real "do over". Think about it, Bernie Sanders, (74), Hillary Clinton (68), Bill Clinton (69), GW Bush (69), Donald Trump (69).
None of these went to Vietnam, and GW had the best service record of any of them. GW had a chance, but somehow lost the way and didn't get the football over the goal line. Instead of the result being something truly great for the country and ready to be passed on to the next generation, we have instead lost our way.
Trump wants a crack at it before the country is passed on down or made worse by those who want to hand the country down in a different form, those being composed ultimately of the protest side of the Vietnam war.
I believe Trump is sincere, he doesn't need this. He feels called to this because he truly believes he can, as the leader and President of the US, "Make America Great Again, Even Better Than Ever". For me, he connects and I think it is sincere.
If Trump becomes President, there is going to be a lot of people fooled, but it will be harder for them to understand exactly how and actually admit it.
Why does Trump feel the need to go down in the gutter here? Why not attack Cruz’s policies instead of engaging in personal attacks? At some point, if he is the nominee, he is going to have to unite the party. This isn’t helping.

Spoken from your heart, a very thoughtful and truthful post.
Thank you.
