We should split FR in two. One site for real conservatives, and another site for the emotional types who will support a populist fraud.

But that’s not my call.

(Just like there is a site for libtards called the democraticunderground. Although... I have noticed tons of HuffPo, Mother Jones, and The Nation posts here by Trumpettes whether it suits their argument. So I guess we might as well just merge with DU and call it a day.)

TED CRUZ: Sure. There is a lot of confusion, and there’s unfortunately a lot of misinformation that you can get on the internet, that people are confused. So let’s explain what each of those three are. TPA is trade promotion authority. That’s also known as fast track. That is the process through which free trade agreements are negotiated. Historically since FDR, virtually every president has had fast track authority. What fast track provides is simply if a free trade agreement is negotiated, the Congress will vote on it up or down without amendment. And history has demonstrated for the last 80 years that the only way to get free trade agreements adopted is to have fast track, that if there is no fast track, free trade agreements do not end up being negotiated. TPA is what the Senate voted on recently. I voted in favor of fast track, because I support free trade.

You must not be able to read simple English!
‘I voted in favor of fast track’...Cruz.
LOL!

Now let's really take a close look at HOW the Trans-Pacific Partnership was passed. (It took me a long time to track it down.)

Now look at HOW TED CRUZ VOTED on THAT VOTE.

Thank you very much. I am taking notes. Defending common core is unethical and selfish.

Cruz in support of TPA

Trade Promotion Authority, called fast-track, has been enacted on and off since 1974. If passed, it has a life span of six years, and remains in place regardless of a presidential administration change. Fast-track grants the president freedom to present trade treaties for a straight up or down vote in Congress, freeing him or her from any amendments on trade deals.

With negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership in the works, fast-track was introduced for reauthorization on April 16, 2015, and set to a late May vote in the Senate.

In anticipation of this vote, Cruz publicly urged Congress to vote in favor of fast-track authority.

“Congress needs to strengthen the country’s bargaining position by establishing trade-promotion authority, also known as TPA, which is an arrangement between Congress and the president for negotiating and considering trade agreements. In short, TPA is what U.S. negotiators need to win a fair deal for the American worker,” Cruz and Ryan said in their Wall Street Journal op-ed.

Cruz and Ryan also pitched the passage as an important step toward helping the domestic workforce. “TPA is what U.S. negotiators need to win a fair deal for the American worker,” they said. “One in five American jobs depends on trade, and that share is only going to grow.”

On May 22, Trade Promotion Authority passed the Senate 62-37 with bipartisan support. Cruz was among the 48 Republicans and 14 Democrats who voted “yes.”

Cruz in opposition to TPA

Following the Senate passage, the bill went to the House where it was split into two separate votes: one on TPA and the other on Trade Adjustment Assistance, or TAA (a program that provides training support, career counseling, allowances, and wage supplements to workers affected by globalization and trade). On June 12, fast-track passed, but Trade Adjustment Assistance was voted down. This stalled and resulted in a motion to reconsider by Speaker Boehner.

In a procedural vote on June 23, the Senate passed fast-track once again, 60-38. But this time Cruz cast a “nay” vote.

Two different votes, one for and one against!
With supporters like you no wonder Cruz is losing!

The Texas firebrand and Republican 2016 presidential hopeful had been a vocal supporter of trade legislation, even co-authoring a Wall Street Journal op-ed in April saying that the fast-track bill, known as Trade Promotion Authority, is a “fair deal” for the American worker. In May, he voted to advance the TPA bill, which also included a worker aid package favored by Democrats.

But just hours before a decisive Tuesday vote, Cruz [changed] his tune. . . . Cruz, who has long aligned himself with the tea party wing of the party, has taken some flak from the right for backing the trade bill initially — so voting “no” now could insulate himself from some of that criticism. Yet it could further alienate himself from big business and deep-pocketed donors who are staunch proponents of expanded markets.

And I once thought he was conservative

OK....for the sake of argument, let's stipulate that cruz mishandled the TPP vote, believing at first that his supporters would not have a problem with it (common practice for several presidents) and planned to use it to demolish the real target, the wasteful import/export bank.

Let's further stipulate that cruz had to reverse course after realizing that the EX-IM was going to be attached to his bill..(the McConnell lie) and that he might pay a price for it...

OK....all that is now stipulated to and we see a Senate boo-boo by Cruz.

So, how then can we throw Cruz under the bus for making this mistake, (attempting to do conservative work and failing) in favor of a man who's conservative creds are not only weak, but nonexistent, and in fact is just a typical Northeastern RINO and newly minted one to boot!

Where the hell is the logic in that?

The answer is that there is no logic to it.

But I repeat myself...and I also realize that there is no way to argue logic with a emotional position.

So essentially I am being rhetorical in my response to you. maybe at some point, someone will read it and it might make sense to them, but on this forum in recent months, it seems unlikely.

It will likely occur on it’s own as it has before on more than one occasion.

But for some reason. It never passes the test of time.

I am not throwing Cruz under the bus. I have two options of who this man Cruz literally is. 1. He is not ready for prime time; or 2. He is a very calculating, cunning deceptive lawyer. I do not think either man is presidential.
