Turns out, Jeb Bush isn't very good at politics
Tampa Bay Times ^ | 2/20/16 | Adam C Smith

Posted on 02/21/2016 6:16:39 AM PST by jimbo123

What were they thinking?

In hindsight that may be the biggest question: How did Jeb Bush and his once-savvy political team so badly misunderstand today's Republican electorate?

The bold - and, yes, high-energy - governor who transformed Florida government and politics in the 1990s was thoroughly unprepared for today's far more conservative, far more angry Republican Party than when he governed. It was absurd for thoughtful and thin-skinned Bush ever to think he could run a "joyful" campaign for president in this political environment.

He ran honorably, but as he gave in to reality Saturday night and suspended his campaign, the giant in Florida politics had become much diminished as a presidential candidate. It wasn't Donald Trump's fault and it wasn't George W. Bush's fault. Bush spent $150 million and failed to earn even a bronze third-place medal in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina. Republicans simply weren't buying from a candidate whose time had passed.

You misunderstand, the RNC/GOP know exactly what they are doing.
They are purposely thwarting the will of their own voters.
McCain, Romney and Yeb! were advanced to block us from electing anyone who would stop The Cheap Labor Express.
The electorate is waking up to the fact that the “leadership” has been working against us all these years.

“Jeb reminded people of a cerebral college professor “

Jeb reminded me of a high-school guidance counselor - the weird one that all the seniors hoped they wouldn’t get.

Basically this guy was put up by the establishment elite to help them make sure they could keep looting what’s left of the USA and flooding it with cheap immigrant labor. I am tired of reading that Jeb ran an “honorable” campaign, I see nothing whatsoever honorable about it.

No I have to disagree with you. The Bush family has hidden brother Neal since the 80’s and not only hasn't he run for any office but it seems he isn't allowed to appear in public either. If Jeb is the smart one in the Bush family than Neal must be really bad!

That the notoriously liberal Tampa Bay Times is bemoaning the demise of Yebbie! should be instructive.

today's far more conservative, far more angry Republican Party

Talk about a lazy analysis. The only issue on which the Republican Party is more "conservative" is immigration. On everything else, including "gay marriage" and other social issues, its moved Left. It has practically given up the fight on restraining government. And the "angry" slur is as old as the hills. Back in the 90s, you had Peter Jennings calling the 1994 election an angry white male "temper tantrum."

Very good point. This is one of those election cycles where the Democratic base is probably far more angry than anyone else. It’s filled with misfits and losers to begin with, and there is nothing to show for eight years of this jug-eared exchange student from Kenya.

They believe that Americans should stop reproducing, because of too high a populaiton; and that we should welcome illegal aliens to make up the lack of population growth, simultaneously

That is exactly the Insanity I have been fighting for 30 years.

It was mind boggling to me to move to California in the 1980s to find millions of immigrants, legal and illegal, being coddled and praised, while back in the interior of the United States the Watermelon "environmentalists" were haranguing American women to get hysterectomies so they could never have children.

Utter insanity.

It is OBVIOUS to anyone that the Left adopted Sanger's tactics against blacks and applied it to gullible whites: guilt trip them about "overpopulation" and get them to abort themselves out of existence. Simultaneously throw open the borders to the Third World which will flood in expecting Major Goodies and impose Communism (they won't bother with the Socialism stage of Marxist "development").

And that's all it is.

As for Bush, one need only read about Sally Bradshaw to realize she's nothing but a latter day plantation owner trying to supplant the uppity white working class with a destitute and desperate foreign slave class that can't vote and won't complain.

And she's supposedly on our side.

I completely agree. We're supposed to accept that GW Bush and Carl Rove are geniuses for pulling out two squeakers against the likes of Gore and Kerry. Best and brightest? No, they're the worst and dimmest. Every election the parties trot out their biggest nutjobs to run, ensure that they're the only ones that get any play, the ballgame is over before the decent normal people even get a chance to bat, and then we wonder why things are so screwed up.

The only smart thing the Repub party has done in the last 20 years is to give Sarah Palin a shot at VP. But when the DemonRat's lapdog media went after her 24/7 (and still are), of course the Repubs got weak in the knees, kicked her down the ravine, and said 'Whoops!' They're total MORONS.

Our country is circling the drain and Bush’s answer was to tell us to accept more of it.

That was what made Jimmuh Karter a one-termer. Too bad 51% were too stupid to see that with O.

Yep, the DemonRats had the White House and both houses of Congress, which should’ve turned America into the land of beauty, enlightenment, and prosperity. What did they accomplish besides screwing up the economy more? Did the homos get their gay marriage? Was abortion stamped into hard law? Thank God they were so stupid and lazy that they “accomplished” nearly nothing. It’s like the old joke of the criminal who turns out to not be so bad because he’s too lazy to go out and steal. I was terrified that they would be up all night every night passing so many outlandish laws that we’d be the next USSR. Not that our situation is good or got better, but I really shudder to think what could’ve been. Luckily the DemonRats thought it would last forever, so they were too busy throwing parties and strutting around in victory.
