Clinton was the first POTUS in memory who did NOT leave a funeral plan upon leaving office. Wonder if he’s made one up yet?
I really dislike the idea of his getting the same lying in state treatment prior presidents got. But, of course, he will. After all, he WAS elected twice by the American people. The possibility of his remains being put @ Arlington is repulsive, but not likely. There has to be a place at his Library in Arkansas?
I’m trying to think of the last POTUS laid to rest @ Arlington. JFK? I think even Eisenhower was buried in KS. Ford in MI, Nixon and Reagan in CA. LBJ probably in TX.
I had very liberal friends who thought it just as wrong when Reagan died and he had that big State funeral.
I made the statement that when Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter died that I would have to listen to the same stuff on their guys. SO fair is fair.
No one who has been President really has clean hands on a lot of things. So they get the big send off.
What I wonder is will we have two state funerals before November, Clinton and Carter. That is almost too much to contemplate.
