Two Dead, Three Wounded After Standoff in Mississippi Home

A Mississippi officer was killed and three others were injured during an hours-long standoff Saturday that stemmed from a domestic dispute, according to authorities.

The suspect involved in the standoff, identified as Charles Lee Lambert, 45, was also killed, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

I suspect Officer Tartt was related to the talented author Donna Tartt. She grew up in Grenada.

These officers are good people. This happened in the city just East of where I live. One of the MHP officers involved is marrying one of my employees. Officer Tartt received an award in 2012 for Valor named for an officer that lost his life in the line of duty. Ironically, the award named for Lane Caldwell for valor is an honor for another local LEO that lost his life in the line of duty and his family lives here also. This is a tragedy. RIP Officer Tartt.

Terrible news. Trea Staples, one of officers shot, is a distant cousin. Bubba Holifield is the son of a childhood friend. Please keep them in your prayers.

Trea is out of surgery and resting well. Haven’t heard any updates on Bubba.

On a message board someone stated that Lambert was unstable and there was a standoff with him a few years back where he held a knife to his wife's neck at a Wal Mart. In a few days we will know more about him.
