I pray that, if it is a fit medium, the good Lord will send blessings through it to a lot of people. My buddy Ronnie has sent his ASCAP contacts a hundred copies as they requested, and these may slowly be coming out on Christian radio as test plays. BMI was underwhelmed, but I have found they aren’t as interested in deep Christian themes. They like the flashy and superficial more. But we don’t need flashy and superficial. We need deep.
I attempted, through the words of this song, to put attention as squarely as I could on where it needs to be. Without an accurate context for the actors and the scene, we can’t have a credible story, and that goes for gospel pitches too. Gospel invites the listener to become part of a particular story. It helps to that end if the story can be believed. Which is why the bible says to give an account, with meekness and respect, for the hope that is within us.
In a story like this, most of the time there is a grievous heartache at the bottom of it, a spiritual starvation that was met in a bizarre fashion, as the prodigal son found himself craving the pig food.
The cure, in its largest and best sense, entails feeding again on the love of God. This opens up panoramas of expression and nurture which give a holy scope to capacities that had found no fit role in the world.
I’m not even sure that more of this is going on in the modern day, as much as it is not hidden from public view in the modern day. That there have always been people like this, but a combination of shame and religious aspiration kept them from getting flagrant about it, and the social support was usually there if they wanted to at least walk through what moderns are calling their “cis” role.
I pray that your acquaintance finds God, or rather that God finds him. And that with this, your acquaintance discovers a new universe of possibilities for himself.
And the happiness is superficial in situations like this, but to get a denouement of the story, you can’t just pound on the person and hound him that his happiness is superficial. Then he may take a delight in defying you, complicating the story and distracting from the larger issue. Instead, wait and pray till something comes to a head. Asking a blessing upon him (privately if necessary, so as not to be misunderstood as to meaning) can also play a role in God steering him to a realization that he has to seek something better than what he has been involved in.

I’ll try to inquire if he gets feedback. I get the picture that this kind of blindly goes out the door to promoters, but eventually we would start hearing about it. In the meantime the Soundcloud site has it, though not in full WAV fidelity.
I have long contended that gender issues are a symptom of anxiety/depression/abuse; rarely the primary pathology.
