He once advised college students that they should understand a law higher than their own consciences. "More important than your obligation to follow your conscience," he warned, "or at least prior to it, is your obligation to form your conscience correctly."

Outstanding advice!

He was a brilliant man and the Catholic Church helped shape his brilliance. One can say that the U.S. lost more than Scalia himself did.

nice style points for Mohler as well. When talking of Taft, he actually referred to the position with the correct title:

Chief Justice of the United States.

Most people just use the more intuitive, “Chief Justice of the Supreme Court”. But...technically...that is incorrect.

Again, kudos to Mohler....

As stalwart as Antonin Scalia was, the future of our constitutional government should not rest on the shoulders of any one man, regardless of his stature. It is incumbent on the United States Senate to return the Court to its original purpose, by refusing to confirm nominees who betray our Founders' principles and our Charter's original intent.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg has no more place on the Supreme Court than barack obama has in the White House. Nor does Stephen Breyer. Or John Roberts for that matter. Unprincipled expedients like them will be the undoing of our republic.

Pathetic that a nation should so lose its way, that its legal foundation is dependent on one man. What a shell of our former greatness we have become.

“A Republic, if you can keep it.”-Ben Franklin

Hopefully it will remain the same for a few more years before it is done and the Leftists have the dictatorship they long for. Pity the kids coming up now.

He was a giant in supporting the law of the land as laid down by men who tasted the blood of tyranny. The individual mattered to Justice Scalia as it mattered to Jesus Christ.
