I’m surprised they are not worried about cartels and the lawlessness in Mexico. This article is from 2011. Can’t imagine it’s gotten better.

Maybe the cartels are more benign in Mexico. And the lawlessness is only on the street, and not in D.C.

A lot of auto parts manufacturers relocated from the US to Mexico in the early/mid 90s. Then a lot of that work went to China in the 2000-2010 time frame.

It appears to me as Chinese wages trend up, the work is trending back to Mexico. Mostly because of logistics.
