I would stock up on any spare Carrier AC parts that you might need and not buy Carrier AC that was made from now till 2017 or ever again for that matter. Just a guess but I think product quality would be on a down turn from now on.

This is exactly right.
From a business standpoint, I don’t understand why Carrier didn’t wait until the last minute before they move to announce to their employees that they would all be terminated immediately and would receive 60 days severance pay, which they are required by law to do. The last thing you want is disgruntled workers building your product.

how hard do you think it is to build an air conditioner?

the local heat and air place here has a young Hispanic dude that’s their main guy on repairs and install,, sharp as a tack

I’m sure they can train Mexicans to build decent units down there .. hey it’s either that or you go out of business trying to compete with units made in China and elsewhere.. you can thank union wages and benefits, Obamacare, huge Federal, state and local taxes, governmental regulations and other mandates.. it doesn’t take a $40 an hour worker to put air conditioning units together
