I was given a chunk of lava from the Pilot Knob volcano on Wednesday. It was formed and blown out 83-79 million years ago when central Texas was still covered by the ocean.

That’s the only climate change I believe in.

Imagine that. People who know the "scientific process" really understand that science is never "settled".

This globull warming hoax has always been based on models that use a multitude of variables which have arbitrary values assigned by assumption.

There is ample evidence that the data used to attempt to validate these assumptions has been manipulated to fit the theory instead of the reality. Remember, by now, the North Pole was supposed to be melted and major coastal cities were supposed to be underwater.

There is the hyperbole in the press where everything is the worst ever or will be. We have actually regressed to naming snowstorms in the winter.

The left is always fond of quoting Eisenhower's speech talking about the military-industrial complex. Yet, in the same speech, just a few sentences later he warns

"The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present - and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite. "

Yes, BTW I am a retired high school physics teacher.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Why bring science into the discussion about climate change?

Not sure but, (imo) some are already here.

“Sensitivity training” for those who do not “THINK” correctly? (Caps for emphasis only!)

Love the new speak!

“Grilled, student socioeconomic status and community economic and political characteristics.”

“The survey grilled 1,500 public middle and high school science teachers across all 50 U.S. states; they are representative of America’s 175,000 science teachers in terms of school size, student socioeconomic status and community economic and political characteristics.”

Take care.........pilgrim

And if you are still teaching.......thank you for your service!!!!

Who knew Newsweek still existed? I am a NYC Science Teacher and refuse to teach man made climate change as fact!

Loved your post! Hope it is ok, I sent it to some friends.

They ‘know better than you’!!!

Had a state senator wanting to dam the Rio Grande River and make a River Walk similar to San Antonio’s. From Albuquerque to El Paso.

Albuquerque, NM elevation 5312

El Paso elevation 3740

1500 foot differential, but that would not pose a problem?

Not in his mind!

A lot of ‘smart’ people we have in Gov!!

It will be critical for them to be informed when considering such things as a carbon tax.

The money line. Literally - the "we will take your money" line.

...agree with the 95 percent of climate scientists who attribute recent global warming to human causes

By definition, a so-called "climate scientist" IS someone who believes in "climate change". So, this statement is like saying "95% of dog lovers love dogs".

I like the meteorologist who pointed out that until a few years ago, there was no such thing as a climatologist — junk science created a speciality for niche belief emphasis.

This article overall is encouraging. The stupid is hard to support.

The author should take a look at a globe of the earth. There are HUGE areas - the oceans and huge areas of land mass - where there are either no people at all, or hardly any people. That is one of the things that makes me wonder whether the impact of human-generated CO2 has been vastly overrated.

I'm always surprised at how dogmatic some people are about the current state of science, i.e., that any questioning of the status-quo is deemed to be a sign of stupidity, ill-will, or both, and is met either with ridicule or condemnation. Yet science itself only progresses when the status-quo is questioned.

In my own life, the scientific consensus on many things has changed (including global warming!), and if you go back a hundred or so years, many of the foundations of science have changed.

“until a few years ago, there was no such thing as a climatologist”

Climatologists have been respected scientists for many decades.

Climate modelers, and climate scientists are fairly new, just about 1990.

I am a retired meteorologist. Many states had a state climatologist for decades before anthropogenic “global warming” was a theory.

I stand corrected. I just remember the rant by one of the early guys in the weather channel history who was saying that as a separate degree it didn’t exist until there was a market for it from all this hype.
