OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- Omaha Police are trying to locate 19-year-old Eswin Mejia. He is free on bond in a case involving a deadly traffic accident but he has failed to comply with the terms of his release and a warrant has been issued.
Mejia had not been showing up for his 24/7 checkups, where court official would make sure Mejia was not drinking while he was out on bond.
Mejiaâs attorney had, âno comment,â on the case Thursday.
Mejia, who is accused of killing a woman while allegedly street racing under the influence, posted bond. Prosecutors say Mejia was racing another vehicle near 33rd and L streets on January 31st when he crashed into the back of a stopped SUV. The driver inside that SUV, 21-year-old Sarah Root, was hospitalized and later died.
