Heidi Cruz never claimed that Ted is the face of God. Look at her actual words again. I actually did look at her words again and thought about it, and I think you are right. I am one of those super sensitive Trump supporters ready to jump on anything Cruz says, and this time it was not warranted. What I now think Heidi was saying, because I did read some other stuff about the quote besides here, is that their Christian campaign is a chance for them to show America that God is involved with values, responsibility, etc., on a national level and in governance.
I still think Ted Cruz is the ultimate hypocrite who uses his christian faith when it is expedient like IA and SC, and conveniently puts it away in places like NH.

Thank you for checking it out.
I think all the candidates try to sell the parts of them that a particular group values, while downplaying the parts they don’t. In NH he didn’t claim to be atheist, did he?
