A lot of evangelicals, especially in South Carolina, are black and do support Democrat candidates.

But when voters are categorized, we speak of the black vote, period. When people refer to the evangelical vote, they are not referring to the black vote.

Or, are some expecting a big turnout of black evangelicals for Ted Cruz?

Yes led. Christians are led by the Holy Spirit...

I suppose I could have used the word believe instead of feel...

For most pollsters, the evangelical vote is those who are self-described, black or white. Some may differentiate black and white evangelicals, but I haven’t looked for them.

Seems to me that black evangelicals who would vote Republican might favor Trump.

FANTASTIC point!

The Trump folks are completely off the rails on this stuff... But, when backing a man with such little character, is it any wonder?

>>what is this "new covenant" with the "church" you speak of?

It's the forgiveness of sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

He is the lamb of the new covenant - perfect and sinless - He took the debt for our sins upon himself.

Luke 22:20

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."
NIV

Heb 9:15

15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance  now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
NIV

For most pollsters, the evangelical vote is those who are self-described, black or white.

So, the incessant talk of Ted Cruz's appeal to evangelicals in Iowa, and now SC, means that a lot of black voters are a part of the evangelical group he appeals to?

I've never seen a political discussion where black evangelicals were discussed as being separate from the general black voter group. In fact, black evangelicals probably make up half or more of the black vote.

You misunderstand. Cruz’ appeal to evangelicals in Iowa was almost exclusively to white evangelicals. My expectation is that Cruz will draw less support where many evangelicals are black.

Demoralized character.

The moment at least part of [the] United States population is convinced that the danger is real, they have to FORCE their government, and I'm not talking about sending letters, signing petitions, and all this beautiful, noble activity, I'm talking about FORCING [the] United States government to stop aiding Communism....

You misunderstand. You were trying say that there is some valid reason to break black evangelicals out from the overall black vote. There isn't. The black vote goes 90%+ for Dims and it has since the 1960s. There is currently no reason to think of sub-categories of the black vote, evangelical or any other category.

A lot of evangelicals, especially in South Carolina, are black and do support Democrat candidates.

Your above statement is pointless. That is what I have been addressing. Everyone knows when the evangelical vote is discussed that it means white evangelicals and does not include black evangelicals, who are included in the overall black vote for political discussion.

>>we are too impure to see the face of God.

He walked with Adam, Moses, Abraham...

His craftsmanship is everywhere in nature.

The perception of beauty - especially in music and its mathematics - is His image reflected in us.

Please review for the class the other “Biblically literate” instances in scripture where various individuals walked and talked with God?

We’ll wait.

TY. Well put.

I, myself, am agnostic and this type of pandering (yes, pandering as much as Rubio/Jeb to the Hispanics) really turns me off.

I’ll not knock anyone’s religion and, knowing our Founding, have great respect for the same.

But I’ve seen it used as a bludgeon. “Godly” Kasich comes to mind, attempting to shame the populace in supporting theft for welfare (aka brothers keeper, if you’re Christian you must take care of the ‘poor’, etc.).

‘Ol Ted starts w/ the pastor cadence and quoting scripture every other sentence, he’ll start losing a LOT of support.

IMO, one can debate constitutionality w/out referencing the ‘Good Book’ (ala they used ‘their Creator’ for a reason).

The Cruz supporters here claim that Trump supporters are falling for a cult of personality. The Cruz campaign is turning into a really weird messianic cult following. People in glass houses really shouldn’t throw stones.

Matthew 7:16-20King James Version (KJV)

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Avatars in the night are one thing. Then there is this:

‘After all, God said, “No man can see Me and live!” (Ex. 33:20, NASB). John 1:18 and 1 John 4:12 both say, “No one has seen God at any time.” First Timothy 6:16 declares that God “alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see.” Indeed, God is “of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness” (Hab. 1:13).’
- http://www.gty.org/resources/questions/QA105/will-we-see-gods-face

Regardless, I am quite confident that the face of God does not carry an unctuous, supercilious smirk.
