It’s coming anyway. Just let it happen.

What if those idiots start a world war, and we did not rsvp?

We have enough oil production. At $100 a barrel we could deal with it.

There is not much to gain my interest in a world war against Russia.

I have an idea:

Russia, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria vs ISIL, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Kuwait, etc in WW3.

Countries involved reduced to piles of smoldering ash. US and China just point fingers at involved parties and laugh.

I'd think that the Arabs should sit down and shut up and make themselves invisible for awhile before Russia blows them away.

Thread on this last night.
This is very dangerous.
Either Erdogan blinks or Putin does.
If neither then it breaks loose.
Europe will do nothing.
Obama probably won’t either.
It’s really not clear who is stronger in this. Turkey is powerful locally and if they fight the Russians the Turkish people will be on board. The Russians have maybe a minor tech edge but major logistics problems.
Kurds, Iraqis, Iranians, Saudis can all get drawn in.
Ugly ugly ugly
This is the general war everyone worried about.

“Countries involved reduced to piles of smoldering ash. US and China just point fingers at involved parties and laugh.” Ah yes. We all want a nice, simple answer, don’t we?

Its not necessarily the simplest answer I seek. Simply the one that costs the US the least blood and treasure and long term damage. Pretty much what George Washington would have wanted.

They want to have a world war? Then maybe we can manage to sit it out.

There is no reason under the sun for us to be involved in a shooting war between these freaks.

Anyone stupid enough to try and stop Assad and Russia from eliminating the islamo scum in Syria deserves what they get.

Even if we aren’t “officially” involved we (and Europe) will still have to deal with the millions of middle easterners who have “refugeed” to America and Europe and that part will be ugly, less so for us than Europe.

Russian PM: Foreign offensive in Syria could spark ‘world war’

<><><><><

Are not the Russians themselves foreigners involved in an offensive in Syria?

Russia will prevail. They learn lessons in Afghanistan they won’t repeat, like limited ROE’s. If all arabs join in watch Russia go big or go home.

The problem for us will come if Turkey invokes the NATO charter requiring other member nations to come to its defense.

This isn’t going to be an Afghan War.
The Turks have aircraft and armor to match the Russians for the most part. And in great numbers.
This will be modern mechanized warfare between well matched opponents.
