Remember Guy Who Walked 21-Miles To Work EVERYDAY? He Just Made A SHOCKING Announcement!
The Political Insider ^ | 2/10/2016

No city is tougher to live in than Detroit. High crime rates and endless poverty has spread everywhere thanks to Democrat policies.

But hard work pays off. In Obama's America, too many people believe they are "owed" something. But this man - James Robertson - at age 57, walked 21 miles to work (to and from) every day!

His story was so inspirational that it went viral last year.

Thanks to donations, his more than 5 hour-long commute has been reduced to a 12 minute drive. But now, he made an incredible announcement: After receiving thousands of dollars in donations, he will still work as hard as he ever has:

James Robertson suddenly had a pile of unearned cash -- about $360,000. It poured into three GoFundMe pages on the Internet and kept coming, 24/7, until the humble factory worker said after a week "that's enough" and the pages were shut down.

Now, just more than a year after the Free Press first told the world about Robertson, dubbed "the Walking Man," this soft-spoken baseball fan is finding that his windfall and free car make life a lot easier, more relaxing, more fun. Obviously.

"I love this car," he said, taking a reporter for a recent spin in his still-shiny 2015 Ford Taurus, a car he chose because, as he famously said, "It's like me -- simple on the outside, durable on the inside."

He works at Schain Mold and Engineering, where he operates an injection-molding machine. And he will NOT be retiring anytime soon!

In part because he prizes his friendships at work, Robertson isn't likely to retire anytime soon.

"People ask me why I still work. I don't change that for no one!" he said, almost fiercely.

My point is with a new car ( uber anyone?) and some funding maybe he could retrain and not do something so entry level and more productive. But he likes his co workers and he is happy so who cares. I don’t.

Good for him! Bad for the author. His 21 mile commute (each way!) now takes 12 minutes? He drives 105 mph to work????

Is the optional lighter one of those torch looking things?

If that’s the way you see it, may I respectfully suggest you stop looking?

So the “shocking” announcement is that he’s not changing anything?

For every man who is ruined by adversity a hundred are ruined by prosperity.

He is 57.

A little young to retire.

Actually he is taking a productive job from a younger person who may need that a job. Sorry that is the way I see it.

<><><><

What are you talking about? He’s 57 years old and you think he should quit his job?

Should every 57 year old with 360K in savings also quit their jobs?

He is not taking anything from anyone, he’s keeping the job he has earned through his efforts.

I’m not at all following you on this one.

I’d like to find the “younger person” who has the same work ethic!

I retired 41 days shy of 52. Best thing I ever did. Now I live.

I agree completely, and that’s what my post intended: his story proves where there’s a will to work, there’s a way; AND he does NOT use his *demographics* - age, location (Detroit, i.e. no jobs), remoteness from work location, race, winter, newly acquired wealth, etc. - as an excuse to quit work. BRAVO!

I think we are all saying the same thing; sorry for the misunderstanding!

I changed my mind we should erect a bronze 40 ft tall statue to this man. He is a national hero. Call it the “Walking Worker”.

And join the 75% of small businesses that go under inside of five years.

Unless you have a second source of steady income starting a small business is a major gamble.

And I am speaking as a small business owner who has beaten the odds.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Taking someones job away that he is superb at and giving it to someone younger sounds liberal as hell to me.

Always with the over correction. How about we just him go about with his life, which he seems to be leading pretty well. He’s not being extravagant with the money, he’s going to work, he’s apparently doing the job well. He’s really too old to be jumping into a new career, too young to be retiring, and not crazy enough to start a business. He’s doing fine, too bad you can’t just be happy for him.

Does anyone else not believe this crazy story?
Walk 42 miles round daily?
That’s outside human reality.
A man can walk on average 3 miles per hour over even ground
That’s 7 hours each way for a total of 14 hours round with absolutely no breaks at all.
Combine that with an 8 hour work day and you have 22hours
When does he sleep?

He’s only 57, for shiites sake!! What do you expect him to do ? Sell his $15,000 dollars for $7000 and go on welfare for 9 years? Learn economics, and quit relying on the gubbmint to take care of you. What a reprobate.
