Non-republican, or DEM, or whatever, what he's proposed is essentially a promise to buy huge amounts, and get a quantity discount. This is win-win. The manufacturer gets a guaranteed run, and the buyer gets a lower price. Administration costs may eat up the savings, I don't know, but the general idea of getting a good price on quantity buy is sound. Trump has also talked about getting a "most favored nation" clause in the contract. This is a fairly common licensing/purchase type of deal, where the biggest buyer gets the best deal.

No question, this is a market distortion. But it might be one that has benefit to the public.

I can understand this......but there's a piece here that's lost and that's the cost to the states. If they don't get the pass through then what benefit is there really? It's not just the Feds that pay into this drug scheme.

The gov’t saves on one end to have it eaten up on the other and the drug price won't change to the patient.
