RUSSERT: Partial-birth abortion â the eliminating of abortion in the third trimester. Big issue in Washington. Would President Trump ban partial-birth abortion?
TRUMP: Well, look. Iâm very pro-choice. I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it, I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I hear people debating the subject. But you still â I just believe in choice. And again, it may be a little bit of a New York background, because there is some different attitude in different parts of the country, and I was raised in New York, grew up and worked and everything else in New York City. But I am strongly for choice, and yet I hate the concept of abortion.
RUSSERT: But you would not ban it.
TRUMP: No.
RUSSERT: Or ban partial-birth abortion.
TRUMP: No.
So Trump has been a supporter of partial-birth abortion, essentially infanticide. Shame on Trump and shame on his supporters for supporting a man like him. He says he’s pro-life now — and his supporters believe him. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such unwise voters — other than Obama supporters — in my entire life.
“When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion if I were president, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would indeed support a ban.”
“But Trump said in his book, The America We Deserve, which was published in 2000, that he was wrong to say he supported late-term abortion. After he talked with doctors, he wrote, he would indeed support a ban on the procedure.”
