My 28 year old son returned home to the Chicago area after living in San Diego for three years. He had hoped to settle his roots there, but changed his mind. The reason he gave me?
“Dad, they’re nuts out there. The taxes are too high and they simply don’t have good Midwest values.”

From what I read about California public schools, I don’t see how any responsible parent can send their child to one.
Your son is right. And San Diego is one of the more conservative California cities. At least, it used to be.
