What does Merkel get?
Merkel has no children of her own, no vested interest in the future.
This gives her the future. It will be stamp on everything, as it will all have to change. It may suck, but it will be her pee on the fire hydrant.

The entire continent has a low native-European reproduction rate of about 1.4 per couple, when 2.1 is the minimum required to sustain the current population level.
Decades of abortion policies have resulted in the absence of millions of children, combined with fewer couples willing to have children due to high taxation policies in socialist Europe.
Socialism requires huge numbers of workers to support pensioners, compounded by the demographic surge of baby boomers reaching retirement age.
Merkel foolishly thought she could mitigate these demographic shortfalls with healthy refugees, who will get jobs and pay taxes.
Unfortunately these Muslims are unsuitable replacements for the missing Euro workers. And there are a million of them, just this past year in Germany alone.
