This place makes no sense in the silly season, every thing is up for grabs...works both ways too.

Read post 21 - Uncle Miltie - and see if Rush is really taking a stand.

Seems like he is still straddling.
Fearful of his ratings and losing sponsors.
I was shocked when he had some online football betting company as a sponsor.

If conservatism wins every time, Rush should own up to it and PERSONALLY support Cruz.

Trump's definition of conservatism was not an ideological definition of conservatism. My point all along, one of my theories was demonstrated. Trump is not an ideological candidate.

It’s not the only priority with a whole lot of voters. The Trump saga more or less proves that.

You don’t know, maybe he’ll do like Trump and wait until he’s running for president, in a tight spot* and needs to use vets as political props. Before that, Trump donated more to Rahm Emanuel than he did to veterans.

*Trump needed to something to compensate for refusing to debate. He refused to debate was because he knew some really tough questions were coming.

Trump is not a conservative, he is an unstable person, untrustworthy, intellectually lazy, a nasty guy, and nobody likes him. In fact, surveys have shown that Trump is the most unliked candidate in the history of unlikedness.

I don't believe a more inaccurate sentence has ever been written in the history of mankind. It pains me to know you must have worked all night on it.

Why isn't the most important issue - the future of the Supreme Court - of more concern here at FR?

Supreme Court is hugely important to me, and I trust Cruz a thousand times over on this compared to Trump, whom I do not trust at all. Religious liberty, pro-life, pro-marriage: Supreme Court nominations are crucial on these issues, and Cruz is far and away the best on this, whereas Trump cannot be trusted at all.

Probably not. Modern Conservatism is a Buckley / Friedman / Reagan / Hayek / Kirk / Goldwater thing.

Modernity arrived, and there are many more things to consider. Opposition to the communist impulse primary among them. Freedom in economics is more well considered, analyzed, and demonstrated by history.

Rubio was his guy too.

They talk about using the convention against Trump

That is a lie

It's for Cruz

Poor Rush Cruz will never be the nominee for the GOP

Every person talks about Cruz being an complete unacceptable on both sides

Jimmy Carter and Chris Matthews

Graham, Gregg, Mc Cain and many more.

I remember he was celebrated here. Now, he is the enemy to some and utterly useless to others.

I helped him with his senatorial campaign, and have had the honor to meet him. Believe me....what he is doing in Washington, is what exactly he said he would do.

The meme that he is nasty and difficult to get along with is far from the truth.

if you pay attention, you know that Rush takes a very fair and balanced approach to his praise

True...and sometimes his praise is very strong and revealing like when Rush told Chris Wallace that Cruz was "Brilliant, and conservative through and through. Trustworthy, strong, confident, leader, and somebody in whom you can totally depend."

“Ted Cruz is pu**y will stay for ever. He can’t win, he is just a nasty man need to grow up.”

Did you just repeat word for word something from a Trump speech? LOL

"Conservative orthodoxy does not include open borders, monopoly, crony capitalism or interventionism."

Read WF Buckley. Did he not define Conservatism for the modern era? Or, was a principal thereof?

He espoused all of those. As has the GOP.

Where the GOP IS Conservative, is in rhetoric on Social issues...and it's in rhetoric only.

Free flow of trade, labor, unencumbered operational tactics by business, freedom to fund any candidate for any purpose (crony) and kill any country that doesn't do what we wants according to the whim of the day.

That IS modern Conservatism. Orthodox.

...You, nor Rush, Beck, are the final arbiter on what is conservative and what is not.

What's funny is if you actually read the transcript, Rush is not dissing Trump.

In fact, the headline is misleading.   Rush jumps around quite a bit here.   It's not a monologue, but one of those dialogues with a caller, so his logic is a bit hard to follow -- and maybe that's on purpose.

Now notice, on Monday, Rush was defending Rubio because Christie and Bush were hitting him hard.

Today he's sticking up for Cruz -- saying how great a conservative he is.   And Cruz fans are eager to hear a pep talk today.

So Rush is the Mother Teresa of the GOP.  He's the guy you turn to when your brother smacks you on the kisser.   And we need a mediator like that.

His goal is to keep the different factions of the non-Establishment side of the GOP together -- and that's a very good thing.

I'm convinced he will support whoever we ultimately choose.   Thanks, Rush.

Do you pay attention? Cruz has been saying he’ll build a wall as far back as running for Senate and as recent as the last debate.

He said he will enforce all immigration laws including deportation. As we know, ending welfare and jobs for illegals will make them self-deport.

He said he would put in an immigration halt from countries with terrorist connections.

You seriously ask if he’ll stand against same-sex marriage? He said it’s a matter for the states. Only he and Huckabee visited Kim Davis in jail.

He said his solution to Obamacare in the last debate. Repeal and replace with free market choices.

What exactly do you want renegotiated in trade agreements? What needs to be changed about them? Specifics, please.

If Cruz is a puppet, then his puppet master must be a huge, right-wing conservative, so that’s cool.
