Obama’s greatest “legacy” will be the erosion of race relations.
His election to the presidency has nothing to do with it.
His actions and comments DURING his presidency has everything to do with it.
For that he will be remembered.
.
That is the real legacy (and Ferguson/Baltimore will forever be linked to his second term, as blacks realized the clock was running out and they were worse off than when he was elected); the false legacy (for consumption years down the road, when nobody living will remember the reality) will be that he saved the environment, saved the economy, raised blacks from their misery, cured cancer, blah blah blah.
For all of the nostalgia about JFK, few people can point to any real accomplishments during his presidency; whatever involvement he had in the space program, he was six feet under for years before men landed on the moon. Obama’s legacy will be the same; for the time being, he’ll be lauded for outright false accomplishments (5% unemployment) and good intentions (regardless of the lack of results).
I hope Ferguson/Baltimore is forever hung around his neck as Monica Lewinsky is for BJ Clinton; let us do our part to make it so.
