To be fair and I live in Canada at the Michigan border, it is not accurate to use a blanket description such as "Canada's palliative care". Just like Michigan, it all depends on exactly where one lives. I live in a small city of 75,000 and our palliative care seems in good shape. Lots of praise in the local press for these facilities. Admittedly there is a problem with the amount of doctors available though.

The horror stories come from large cities like Toronto and in Alberta, such as Edmonton. Referring to our neighbours in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we have good reports of how they cope. On the other hand in the main cities in the Lower Peninsula it may be different.

Again simply conditions vary from area to area. The bigger the city, very often the bigger the problem.

Good point. I bet you can find better hospice care in many small Canadian towns than you can in Flint.
