Your point is really good. The comparison between Yeb! and Cruz is a perfect analog for the difference between the GOPe and real conservatives. GOPe, being essentially big government liberals, throw barrels of other people’s money at problems. The worse the problem gets, the more money they throw. A conservative analyzes the problem, evaluates how much money is needed or worthwhile to apply to the problem and spends that amount. Here, Cruz understood there was limited support to be gained in a liberal northeast state and spent enough to place within the delegate lottery, surpass the two establishment heavyweights and exceed expectations. Even in the loss, he looks strong and smart and ready to tackle the next problem.
Not all that unexpected.
Now he goes to Trump Country where he is 16.4% Real Clear Politics Average on February 9th, 2016.
Trump has been here in South Carolina for months.
Cruz is running a really smart campaign. He’s raising a lot of money and has a good ground game.
He’s smart enough to assess situations and use his money wisely.
Trump gets TONS of free press. Cruz gets almost no press.
But that may change in the next few weeks.

You said what I meant, but much more eloquently.
Cruz is a man of reasonable, but originally modest, means.
He’s doing fine now, but only because he can manage his money.
Compare and contrast with Rubio, Yeb, or Mr. Four Bankruptcies.
