I’m no Rubio fan, but this article is just more MSM over-analysis and navel gazing.
They attribute his loss to one, not unreasonable comment about Obama made several times in a debate? Ridiculous. I happened to LIKE Rubio’s comment about Obama’s actions being planned an purposeful.
So now the NY Times is again telling us that criticizing Obama is off-limits for anyone wanting to succeed in the Republican race - utter BS. Don’t fall for it.
Watching it unfold in real time with full context was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
Christie eviscerated Rubio. It was brutal, a complete unmasking of a candidate who just wasn't ready for primetime. The full impact is not captured in the condensed news clips.
I'm with you, PGR. Rubio's point is valid and echoes Rush's speech at CPAC in February 2009 in which he said he wanted Obama to fail because succeeding would mean, well, the disaster we've lived over the past seven years. Too many on that stage, including Trump, continue to go down the incompetent Obama path. (That doesn't mean Trump wasn't right about the VA being incompetent, but it's part of Obama's deliberate destruction to appoint incompetents.)
What I wished for Rubio to do, even though I'm a Cruz supporter and don't trust Rubio on amnesty, were two things: (1) Explain why he was continuing to make the point even in the face of Christie's pounding, and (2) Call out that Jersey blob and shut him up for good by saying that his criticism of Obama is hollow considering Christie's arm-in-arm bromance pictures with Obama that we've all seen. Welcoming a President is one thing, looking like you're auditioning for Wuthering Heights is completely another.
