War between Bush and Rubio moves to South Carolina
American Thinker ^ | 02/10/2016 | Rick Moran

Both the Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio campaigns are on life support and most observers believe that one or both will not make it out of South Carolina.

But before someone pulls the plug on both campaigns, I'd recommend you pop some popcorn and watch the fur fly because it's going to get bloody in South Carolina over the next 10 days.

Snip...

Jeb Bush spent an astonishing $36 million in New Hampshire to finish behind Ted Cruz who only spent $600,000. By all rights, after his feeble showing in Iowa, a fourth place in New Hampshire should have finished him.

But Bush hasn't burned through all of the $100 million he's raised in the last year so moving on to South Carolina seems to be his only play left.

As for Rubio, he has a combined $1.3 million between his campaign war chest and his SuperPac - enough to make an impression in South Carolina. But it remains to be seen if he will be an afterthought in the coming battle between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

There's a very interesting excerpt from Politico in the body of the article.

I agree that it's essentially a two man race between Trump and Cruz but the bloody side play between Yeb and marco is going to be very entertaining.

I don’t know if it’s a side play. I think the GOP is basically split, irreparably.

In a normal year, someone with a lead the size and durability of Trump’s would have already been a foregone conclusion to get the nomination.

Yet 2/3 of the GOP electorate refuses to back the guy.

That spells “unelectable” to me if 2/3 of your party cannot even picture supporting you. Meanwhile, imagine if somehow Jeb Bush came out of this as the nominee, and there is a path now clearing for him. There’s no way Trump supporters would swallow their gall and back him in November.

The party may be toast.

When the two are left standing, an unorthodox solution to TRUMP and CRUZ would to be to:
1. unite as President and Vice President for the remaining primaries
2. have a coronation at the convention
3. combine a formidable war chest for the general election.

They are splitting the establishment vote, so I'm very happy to see that Jeb and Rubio are still in the race, and swinging away at each other.

I hope they stay in for another month or so, until Super Tuesday (March 1) at the least.

Trump/Cruz
Trump/West
Trump/Bocephus

Any of those works for me, although I'll admit the last one is a long shot.

Irrepaarably as far as I'm concerned. I'm voting for Trump but the gop can go to hell.

I’m not sure I could spend $36M on a state, much less one that I was supposed to have locked up because of my last name.

The donors must be SO proud!

I don't buy that for 10 minutes. last night Trump won among every demo tracked. Every one of them. He has the most support among unaffiliated voters and blue collar democrats. Trump will win and win big.

I can't imagine a more delicious food fight than Rubio vs. Bush. Go boys, go Pass the popcorn because this is going to be bloody (politically speaking).

You're right. You just called out some poor anti-Trump spin. As an analogy, suppose a survey is done about favorite deserts. Suppose 30% of respondents say ice cream. That doesn't mean the other 70% hate ice cream, and don't buy it.

he won a plurality , but not a overall majority, and that is weird given the way the race has gone. If it had been a normal candidate with his lead, the electorate would have said “we have our winner” but they haven’t said that. Most of them are not supporting him.

Sheldon Adelson will feed Rubio’s campaign’s kitty.

I heard Mama’s boy state that he’s still planning to go after Donald Trump, but according to this column, he’s going after Marco Rubio, too.

Just wow! Jebra must be turning into a Super Stud, huh?

Care to tell me how many times an non-incumbent has won a clear majority in a contested primary since, say, 1952?

My candidate has been and is Trump....as far as the GOPe is concerned, the party should be broken...it is in the bag for big government and open borders, no manufacturing or jobs for our people, no healthcare, and nothing for our Vets or Wounded Warriors (VA)...

All of government is in one big happy family, the GOPe; talking heads (Rush, Levin, Hannity, Faux and more) daily rags that you see on here all the time, Super Packs, lobbyists, special interest groups (that includes foreign countries trying to take over our Country)...

Yep, the Republican party is garage and needs to be taken to the incinerator....

In today’s “rusty” irony... Christie damaged Rubio, but killed his own chances. Look at the numbers: the 2/3rds did not vote for Trump... but 2/3rds did vote for non-establishment candidates (yes I include Rubio in that number for IMHO he’s just the “last best hope” more than a real insider... thanx again Chris). Just a small Trump move towards the position of Cruz/Paul, a show of reverence for The Constitution and acknowledgement of “Obama knows what he’s doing” (Marco is right on that!) can seal the deal for the Donald. All again IMHO. Guday!
