GOP establishment stares into the abyss
Politico ^ | February 10, 2016 | Alex Isenstadt

For the establishment wing of the Republican Party, the picture just keeps getting bleaker. Far from winnowing the crowded field of mainstream GOP contenders and allowing it to unify around a standard-bearer, New Hampshire thrust it further into chaos. Marco Rubio, after taking steps last week to coalesce the backing of the party’s upper echelons, saw his momentum halted in the state, which punished him for delivering an overly scripted debate performance.

If the GOP/RNC could trump Trump or Cruz they would have done it by now. They are stymied and clueless at this point!

I live near the SC/NC state line and I can tell you that the GOPe/Bush/Rubio machine has arrived in force. TV/Radio psychological warfare has assumed epic proportions.

Look out Donald Trump.

“About as much difference as it made when we got majorities in the house and senate.”

One big problem is that we don’t have a veto-proof majority in the Senate. Without that, or a filibuster-proof majority if a Republican wins the White House, no fundamental legislative changes will occur.

I’m sure you’re correct.
While Dems ran roughshod over the filibuster during their Obama majority years, Republicans will honor it.

I disagree that most voters see the candidates as “establishment” vs. “non-establishment.” That’s way too political junkie inside-baseball for most voters. They judge the candidates based on what their policies and personalities are. Rubio did better in Iowa than NH because of his strong pro-life credentials. So I think it’d be better for Cruz to campaign less on who’s in the establishment or not and more on his actual plans, policies and beliefs.

My guess.

Christie won’t drop out yet.

The GopE will bank roll Christie for a few weeks so he can be their Trump/Cruz attack dog for at least 1 maybe 2 more debates.

Like Cruz said, the GOP elites fought TOOTH AND NAIL to keep the export-import bank and to reinstate it. Whenever they claim they “can’t” do something it’s because they were just lying to you if they ever said they actually cared about that particular issue.

Brit Hume said last night Christie doesn’t qualify for the next debate.

We must beat the cheap labor express

That includes NO H1B workers to replace US citizens. And get rid of bad trade deals. hmmmm....who's the only candidate we can trust on that?

Also, Dana Pe-RINO was chewing Christie out for hurting Rubio in the debate only to have the effect of helping Trump. She probably speaks for a lot of RINOs who also resent Christie going after Rubio. I think his donors will be jumping ship. If he’s this weak in the northeast, where else is he going to perform?

Sanders and Trump agree on a lot of what are the major problems destroying the US. It’s the approaches to solving them that differ.

Can you please define what “good” trade deal is? If you show me two of them, how am I supposed to know which one is the good one? If Trump signs a trade deal, what will you be looking for in it to make sure it’s “good?”

Gramnesty was pitching a fit on FoxNews this morning, claiming that Trump couldn’t bring new voters into the party, yada yada yada.

Gramnesty needs to check up on the news: Trump won in every demographic in NH.

Gramnesty will need a straight jacket if/when Trump wins SC.

A good trade deal does not undermine US workers by using near-slave labor and manipulating currency. It does not send overseas jobs that will leave a void in opportunities for US workers. It does not provide unsafe or inferior products. It financially profits the US and us citizens. It does not create dependence on other countries to provide things that we can be self-sufficient in. Is that enough?

FoxNews this morning reported that Christie has gone back to NJ to reassess.

That is code for ‘likely to drop out’.

==

Kasich, Bush and Rubio need to stay in to dilute the SC votes.
