Agree. It is a general undermining of the concept of conservatism across the board, because conservatism has become associated with an intellectual only, do-nothing, sit-in-the-Players-Club, exchange e-mails with Jonah Goldberg 19th century ideology that has no relevance for ordinary people.
I’m not saying that’s what it is, but I’m saying that increasingly that’s what the GOPe has made it, so to constantly pound the table and scream “Cruz is a conservative,” well, that doesn’t go far. And it’s not because conservative ideas are bad, but because in the last decade, no one has actually seen a conservative idea put into practice.
Regarding Marco Rubio, if he truly is a Reagan conservative, let him go back to the Senate and show me by actions that he has renounced Gang of 8. Words aren’t good enough any more.
