Dr. Saussy's letter is truly a scathing indictment of the fire/EMS situation in D.C. It comes as no surprise to anyone who lives around here.
Her attempts to implement reform of EMS into some semblance of professionalism and accountability have been stymied by fire management and the union.
If you are sick or injured in D.C., take a cab and call an ambulance once you're out of the city.
I'll hunt up a link to her 4-page letter.

For example, the department blocked her attempts to set up testing of EMS providers just to assess their baseline and see where they need further training.

It’s always easier - and safer - to do nothing.

I’m waiting for the new Metro boss to write the same letter.

Expecting competence and accountability in DC?
Shes either naive or insane.

Could it have something to do with putting, ahem, “diversity” ahead of competence? Just a wild guess.

HomeRule in DC has been an abject failure. Time to go back to the old city commissioner system.
