A bill introduced in the Illinois House would make Aug. 4, President Barack Obamaâs birthday, a state holiday.
State Rep. André Thapedi, D-Chicago, and three other Chicago-area Democratic lawmakers are sponsoring House Bill 4654, which was filed on Feb. 2. The legislation would make Obamaâs birthday a legal holiday, meaning state offices and schools would be closed.
From the bill:
âThe fourth day of August of each year shall be a legal holiday to be known as Barack Obamaâs Birthday to be observed as a day on which to hold appropriate exercises in commemoration of our illustrious President. When August fourth shall fall on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be held and considered the holiday.â
If passed by lawmakers and signed by the governor, Obamaâs Aug. 4 birthday would become the 14th official state holiday. The legislation also would establish a commemorative holiday known as mayorâs day, in honor of late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and Richard J. Daley. That holiday would be observed by Chicago Public Schools on March 4, though schools in that district would stay open.
Obama, who has his own problems with a divided Congress, will be in Springfield next week to address the General Assembly where he is expected to speak about bipartisanship. Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democratic legislative leaders remain deadlocked over a budget. Illinois is now eight months into the current fiscal year without one.
First commie presidents day!!!
I’m trying to think of what I’d do on such a holiday. Buy ammo. Go to Church. Take the family shooting and to bible study. Pray for God’s kingdom to come.
I remember all that.
His granny was so proud. And Kenya was proud of their native son.
Do you remember Obama’s trip to see his dying grandmother?
There were pictures of Moochelle jumping into barky’s arms with a huge smile on her face after granny died.
Guess some damning information went with her.
Semmens is playing mind tricks on us. lol
Nothing short of idolatry.
BO is too good to be lumped in with all those other guys on “Presidents Day” apparently.
