‘Voter-Shaming’ Mailer That Made Noise in Iowa Shows Up in New Hampshire
New York Times ^ | 2/7 | Nicholas Confessore

A controversial voter-turnout tactic employed by Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in Iowa is cropping up in New Hampshire, this time by way of a mysterious organization about which few public details are available.

Voters in New Hampshire received envelopes in the mail this week claiming to contain “important taxpayer information,” according to Christopher Crawford, who received one of the mailers and posted pictures of it on Twitter. Mr. Crawford, who recently moved to Washington, was visiting his parents at their home in Nashua, N.H., this week when he opened an envelope addressed to him only to find a chart showing the names and voting history of several of his parents’ neighbors.

“What if your friends, your neighbors, and your community knew whether you voted?” the mailer says, before promising Mr. Crawford that “we plan to mail an updated chart” after the New Hampshire primary.

The tactic, known as “vote shaming,” is designed to encourage people to turn out to vote.

What contempt this politician has for US citizens.

Even the much hated Rob Ford has love for his southern neighbors.

El Senador needs to show some respect to people in his adopted country

Sounds like the hysterical Cruz haters are setting him up to be castigated by Trump after this primary too. It worked well in Ipwa.

And I just got a check in the mail from that nice guy, Mr. Cruz!

Fortunately, I read about those fake checks he has been sending out, and dropped it in the waste basket in the mail room, not even opening it.

Stupid to be messing with li’l old ladies like that! Some of us are sharper than he thinks.

Madeline All-But-Bright can shame all young women by saying there’s a special place in hell for them! Steinam can shame them by saying they’re only interested in BOYS (oh the horror). But we’re still talking about a campaign mailer???? Ugh.

You can dish it out. But you can’t take it. Stop throwing stones if you don’t like having them thrown back at you.

I am so sick of the (I think) Cruz supporters accusing Trump or his supporters of anything or everything, however contradictory from one day to the next. There is no sin, according to you, that Trump or people who like what he has to say, that he and we are not guilty of. You just can’t wait for the opportunity to say something nasty even if no one has said anything at all. Indeed, no one suggested Cruz did this (although he did this before.) Before you go on accusing others being in a cult, I suggest you take a long hard look in the mirror. YOU are the ones being nasty and just looking for some opportunity to accuse Trump or his potential voters of something or other.

“Did you actually read the article?”

Yep. Nice trend started by Rafael, or maybe he is an opportunistic follower.

Strange, one of our contractors many years back went to Cuba for a health charity or some such. Anybody who didn’t show up for their yearly state medical exam would similarly be shamed — and eventually receive a “house call.”

Rafael Sr. supported that — until militant leftism became unfashionable in his new home.

Didn't Cruz's campaign do this same thing in Iowa? Yes, it did, and didn't Cruz's campaign say that Carson was quitting the race? Yes it did...so if you can't accept the truth of the matter, in this case and in Iowa, the super packs or special interest groups that support Cruz's campaign are doing this, it still comes from the Cruz campaign....

If this had been done by the Trump campaign, you people would have been screaming ‘bloody’ murder to have Trump removed from this election....but Trump doesn't operate that way, if he has something to say, he comes out publicly and says it...which is a lot more than I can say you people or Cruz's campaign does....

Today I read about how Trump was able to start his winery. Pure dishonesty. I don't understand giving the "keys to the car" to someone who has the morals of an alley cat.

Voting records are public records in most states. If you want privacy, don’t register to vote.

Simple really.

“It¿½€™s way below the level I’d expect Cruz to operate at.”

That is an interesting comment. May we see your data that ties Cruz to this incident?

Not this $#!t, again!!!

From the link...

This new mailer has a New Hampshire State emblem- like graphic with the title “New Hampshire State Voter Program” on the letterhead. There is no such state-sponsored program in New Hampshire, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

“I’d like to know who is responsible, they won’t be getting my vote,” New Hampshire voter William O’Shaughessy told LawNewz.com.

And apparently, O’Shaughnessy is not the only who received the letter. Other people on Twitter say they have as well:

In small letters at the bottom, the letter says it was paid for by “Public Policy Matters.” A google search for this group turns up nothing, and the mysterious group is not registered (as far as we can find) as a PAC. The group does have a P.O. Box in Manchester, New Hampshire.
